Hello there,
The repti-glos are generally disliked in terms of a
UVB bulb due to their inconsistant, and often poor output ratings. Basically they say 10.0 but you are not going to get that output.
Furthermore with repti-glo bulbs there is a link with optical discomfort. Many dragons will shy away from the light, closing one or both eyes. Others will even develop infections or crust their eyes over.
The easiest site to refere you to as for tangable proof is
http://www.uvguide.co.uk.
Im sure other members will be able to voice their own personal catastrophies with reptiglos.
The most telling results you will find online are here. On this forum.
If you type Reptiglo into the forum search i cannot count the number of posts you will find on sick, lethargic dragons, or dragons with optical issues resulting from the use of these bulbs.
You will also be able to read the reports of a much improved dragon after being advised to change their bulb.
Basically, repti-glos are not the best bulb, and CAN pose health risks.
To me its not worth the risk to save a few quid, and Im a student - I know how it feels to live off noodles for weeks!
All the best.
