This is my new girl, she is one of Barbara's babies from the first clutch and was born on 7/17. Her proud parents are Ms. Tiggs & PVT Blaze. As we know, all Barb's beardies are spoiled.
She had a long trip from CA yesterday, all the way to NY. She arrived 12:30 today. She is gorgeous, has orange colored eyes and is a real sweetie.

I had a problem with Photobucket, promise to put up more pics later. She had a bath, ate a few greens & a little squash as well as 2 crickets. She has been cuddled quite a bit already. And, as Barbara knows, she loves to run up your hand & arm when you try to put her back in. :D
Her stress marks are gone right now, she laid on my lap and snuggled into my hand.

Just trying to catch up a bit. Hope Giz continues to do well.
Love the stories about the bullfrog. I think if I had one that close I'd name him Jerimiah! :laughing6: Some of you youngsters won't get the name, but I'm certain quite a few over 30 do. :D As for winter- frogs and toads tend to burrow into the mud for the winter. Do you have a nice deep muddy spot for them? I know how cold it gets up there. I can't wait for picts. Of course the kids would insist we put them in the bathtub for the winter. Can you imagine- A bullfrog chorus all night, all winter right next to the bed rooms!  On second thought, I don't think I'll be adopting any frogs!

699! Whoa, that's pretty sturdy!!! Was that when she was gravid?? Belle got up to 645 but she's at 605 now and has been for awhile... Fiona is usually about 20 gram behind "big sister"! I'll watch for Franklins pics, I love the froggy sounds! I listen to crickets day and night now because I have had so many escape, who ever thought that I'd wish for roaches!
Hi Kat. That wt on Misty was actually a little over a wk ago, not sure if she is gravid or not, in a way, I hope she is but I have cut her back on her protein some regardless. That much wt is not good. I love the froggy sounds too. Sweetie doesn't make any noise at all and I'm not sure if females do. Cricket escapees are NOT good, especially when they make so much noise.

Now, for being gone a while, I'm a little confused on who Franklin is?? Are you feeling better Diane? Cyber hugs..................
Hi Christine, Franklin is a handsome male bull frog that showed up in our water garden in the early part of June. Sweetie is a female that Paul & Josh found who is in with him. We are really enjoying them.
Thanks for asking how I'm feeling. All weekend I had a fever of between 103.5 and 104 so I went to the dr today. Turns out that I have bronchitis, swollen tonsils, sinus infection and a bulging eardrum. Gee, no wonder I felt so crappy! Hopefully I'll start feeling better tomorrow so I can return to work on Wed.

Dawn, thank your for sharing that story about Barkley with us, that is so amazing. It sure does make sense though, doesn't it?

Deb, we picked the name Sweetie because your girl reminds me so much of Sabrina and with Franklin having the personality as he does and showing up just 2 days after Sabrina was put to sleep, the name just seemed SO right. So, your Sweetie has a cute little girl bull frog named after her. :p I knew you wouldn't mind. I'm really hoping your girl is done laying eggs too, she's been through a lot. Does she still sleep on Roger's pillow and blanket? Giz is doing ok, certainly not any worse.

Sandy, the minute you mentioned the name Jeremiah, I knew what you meant. That's actually one of my favorite songs. Oh boy, I can't imagine the frogs spending the winter in our bathtub especially with Franklin being a very loud and vocal bull frog. Our bathroom is next to the bedrooms too.

Oh geez, didn't realize you were still feeling bad. Shame on me for not asking  . Hopefully he gave you some medicine so you can be comfortable and start to get better. I weighed Lilly and would you believe Misty is bigger than her  . She's only 677 right now. She got as high as 740, but has since then slimmed down.

That's ok Sara, you were so excited about "things" so I let you slide. He gave me Zithromax, nose spray and Robitussin with codeine so that I can hopefully sleep tonight. Last night I only got 2 hrs of sleep between the continual coughing and high temp.
Oh gee, I didn't want to hear that Misty weighs more than Lilly as I know Lilly is quite a bit longer. I guess she better be gravid then.

Its no fun when you can't sleep cuz of sickness, I know :( . I assume you are taking sick days from work? I have no idea how/why Lilly's lost weight (I guess I'm monitoring her super intake more carefully).

Another night of minimum sleep. I slept on the livingroom carpet with a blanket & pillow since I was keeping Paul awake with my coughing. When he got up at 5:30, I went back to bed, coughed for another hr and then fell asleep until about 9:30. I did take a 1 1/2 hr nap today. I'm going to work tomorrow but once they take a look at me, they may end up sending me back home.
Yes Sara, I took Friday and Monday as sick days.
How many supers does Lilly usually eat in a day? I'm only feeding Misty 2 medium horns daily.

I'm glad that you took some days off. As you've told me many times pushing yourself will only make things worse. Lilly eats 5 supers most days. I do go ahead and let her eat them 7 days a week if she's hungry, but she's under the impression it's time to brumate right now. Today she was asleep at dinner time so I just let her sleep :? .

You're right, I have told you that, haven't I? At least I know you remembered my advice. Feeding her 35 supers a wk is fine. It does sound like she is getting ready to brumate. At least this yr you will have Lyla running around & keeping you company.

Lilly doesn't really do a full brumation, she just slows down and hides/ naps a lot. She will still eat if she's up or if I wake her up. And if I put her on her basking spot she will stay there until I move her (I think she's just THAT lazy). But she still gives me lots of sleepy snuggles when she's not attacking foreign exchange students or trying to find a "cave" to sleep in.

Oh, so she semi-brumates, that's what mine do too, I actually prefer it that way.

:laughhard: Poor guy, bet that really made him jump. Has he gone near her after that?

Hi Diane, I hope you're feeling a little better....Belle and Fiona have slowed way down too, brumation is coming. You are both lucky that yours only semi-brumate. I was practically alone from October til February last year  Of course, I will have company this winter! I haven't ordered silkworms or hornworms for about 3 months, I should do that...

Diane, you have our prayers for a quick recovery. I remember many years ago when I had bronchitis. It was not fun. I couldn't sleep because I can only sleep on my side, laying down, when you try that with bronchitis, you can't breath. I had to try to sleep sitting up with a large black pillow that I was given in HS, that wasn't easy, either. So you have my sympathies and I do understand how hard it is to live with it. I thank God I've only had it that one time.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
