i picked him earlier today, ill post pics in a few mins.
its like 75-77 degrees in my room and about 85 on the cool side and 95 on the floor and about 104 on up closer to the basking light.
he ate 3 small dubias in about 30-40 mins and i put a tiny bit of a banana a strawberry and a few pebbles of a blackberry.
hes tiny only about 3 weeks old maybe somewhere around 7-8 inches from head to tail (i didnt measure him)
he ran from one end to the other a few times here and there, went up top of and came down and then finally found a comfy spot on some Malaysian/Moopani? drift wood. also different parts looks like hes trying to climb the glass and pauses and goes another way lol...
im going to petco later near me and get him some decor or something, if somebody can suggest somethings would be really helpful, also would anybody know if i can go to homedepot to get him a nice basking rock right maybe some other things?
im waiting to get my 22 inch reptisun t5 to come in this week should be one of the days upcoming, for now i have the stock compact one that came with tank.....

outdoor sun is great as long as its warm enough where you live. I take spike outside anytime its above 85 and sunny outside. If you plan on getting a better UV light in the next day or so I would probably not even bother using that coil bulb. I know manufacturers say that their bulbs are perfectly safe.. but I have a friend that bought a bearded dragon "start up" kit.. and the beardie he put in it got a horribly infected eye. Hes fine.. and he eats like a champ.. but his eye is still messed up and that was over a month ago.

thanks for the info appreciate it very much...
depending if the uv comes this week, would wrapping aluminum foil 'funnel' around the fixture buy some time?
yea i just seen the wooden vivs for about same price as my tank just w/out the lights and if i knew it would be this bad (the basking light does heat up a lot more than expected) i wouldn't have bought it even though i got it on sale...
quick question when sleeping do they just stay in one comfy spot and sleep near no movements maybe just different head position? my guy looks laid out, lol planking tooo comfortable lol

also would you know what to look for if the light is bothering him?

If he is basking under the UV and closing his eyes most of the time.. then you probably have something to worry about. Whats worse is if he does not close his eyes.. and just stares at it. Its hard to see it coming.. which is why I avoid those coil lights all together. Any amount of foil.. or what you do with it.. wont make an unsafe bulb safe.

Now don't take my advice as fact... I have also known people who used those with no issues. In fact.. for about a month before I knew any better my baby had a coil bulb and shes fine. I just think its worth the $40 I pay for the reptisun 10.0 tube rather than take the risk.

As for sleeping.. beardies sleep very soundly. They can also fall asleep in any position. I think we even have an odd sleeping position thread in photo expressions. They fall asleep in the weirdest places, in the weirdest ways, and there's not much that will wake them.

nah i cant say he keeps closing his eyes while sitting atop on the wood, but like you said he might not be closing his eyes any way i finally got the tracking # and its scheduled for friday to be here, you would recommend not using the coil for the 2 days?
yea last night he was sleeping planked out on the wood and when i checked around 730 this morning he had his head up, turned on the lights and then like 15 mins later gave him some dubias he ate 2 of them and went back up to sit on his wood again lol
he seems active any time i approach he moves his head

okay the light is coming in about next hour or 2 its out for delivery in the AM,
he poops like once a day yesterday was twice is that normal?
also i noticed him scratching his nose and somewhat peeling and i assume that hes ready to shed? i put him in a small bowl of warm water but he just runs out lol.
everything seems okay hes very active running from one end to the other jumping around and licking everything...
eating is still some what iffy he only eats day and night when i offer him food during the middle of the day he doesnt look very interested in it and really makes no reaction to it..

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
