Where do you keep them (in the house), what do you keep them in, and how do you keep them warm?

Thanks!

I keep them in the house, you can keep them in the garage if it is warm enough. I would keep them in a Tote/storage bin from walmart, and is not see through. I would use a Ceramic Heat Emitter on the top of the lid (Cut a hole in the lid and put some screen down for the lamp to sit on). Fill the tote with cardboard and some food and water. You can do a number of things to heat the bin, undertank heaters, heat cable, basking light, red heat lamp, Ceramic Heat Emitter, etc.

Hope this helped.

I keep mine in the Beardie room. I have them in a rubbermaid bin with a heating pad underneath. Egg crates inside...Very easy to keep.

Thanks. We've been keeping them for a few months but moved house last week and there is no longer a beardie room to keep them in :(
Don't really want a box of roaches sitting in the living room with us and wondering how best to heat them if I keep them in a cupboard in the bathroom....

Saw one of them actually giving birth yesterday... :?

Keeping dubias is a cupboard is a good idea. However, depending on how much your family likes to take hot showers, you might want to reconsider the bathroom. The high humidity could lead to mold problems with the roaches' food/frass.

Personally, I keep mine on the back porch with a small space heater to keep the porch warm.

I acually have two totes of roaches sitting at the foot of my bed. One is in a clear container with a latching lid the other in a gray container from Wal-mart. The gray container has a hole cut in the lid (got it from someone didn't do it myself) with a screen. I don't like this as it is super hard to keep the humidity up in there in my room. the gray tote also is nested in another tote and the inside one has holes drilled in it. I think the idea was that the frass could fall into the bottom of the other container for an easy clean up. I have yet to try this though. In side of both of the totes I have egg crate stacked vertically in smaller chunks so it is easy to get small quantities of roaches out. The clear tote is doing great, multiplying like mad and the grey tote is not doing good at all for what ever reason (other than container care is the same) THey are both on heat pads from the Bean Farm. I also have a dish for water crystals and one for fish food. They also get carrots, cellery, collreds and I am going to try some fruit soon. The only time that it bothers me to have them so close to where I sleep is if I feed them right before I go to bed becasue then you can hear them scurrying around carrying food off to where ever they want to. If I had a cupbord to put them in, believe me I would. My boyfriend is going to take one of the colonies to his place and put it in his hall closet, just be sure that you keep them fed that whole out of sight out of mind thing. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
