I come home from work today with high hopes of seeing at least one empty dish, but instead I saw two full dishes of salad and worms. Pookie's viv was half turned over and he was sitting in front of the window; Digi was in the same spot that I placed her on this morning. Immediately I started to panic, thinking she may be sick or finally going through relocation stress (or depression).
Being the very well trained slave that I am, I picked up her dish and started fishing for worms. I put the first in front of her and within seconds, she inhaled it! So I fed her another worm and she inhaled that too. Then another, then another, then another, until all of the worms were gone. Yay! Given she ate the worms so well, I decided to try feeding her salad by hand too. Guess what?! Not only did she end up finishing what was in her dish, but she ate another half! Each bite was hand fed, and if I accidentally let go of the leaf before she got a hold of it and it dropped to the floor, she just sat there and stared at it, waiting for me to pick it up.

So, I must ask each and every one of you and your beardie(s) -- WHO TOLD?! Who told my little Digi to not eat by herself and wait for me to hand feed her?!

WHO TOLD?! :banghead:

Isn't it amazing, how spoiled they can become so quickly? I have a few that will wait for me to feed them by hand as well,.............. of course I could use tough love, and hold out to see if they eat on their own. Oh sure, right!

Gina, I think Barb did, before you got her. Our girls refuse to eat greens out of a dish, they have to be hand fed greens. Bill rarely feeds them supers by hand because they will get more spoiled than they are.

But she'd been eating on her own since day 1, and it'd been over a week (wow, I can't believe Digi's been with me for 10 days!). Why would she suddenly decide to not eat today?
It just doesn't make sense.

Maybe she was feeling left out because she's home alone when she's used to Barb being home all day long and she wanted a little extra attention. They get really spoiled with attention.

Maybe she is jealous, she saw Pookie get out and figured heck I am not going to eat until I get something...freedom, attention, something :dontknow:

Hey Gina! I haven't been here in a while and just wanted to check in on Digi :D
Have you already had her for 10 days? OMG! It seems like just yesterday that you got her.
So she is wanting to be handfed now, huh? Hmmm...
I think that Barb's beardies all need to come with a hand feeding manual or she needs to.. at the very least.. mention in her sale ad that they are spoiled and loved to be pampered to no end, LOL

Lori - That could be it, because I stayed home with her for 5 days after her arrival, then away during the day for work for only 3 days before the weekend came.
Mary - That could be it too, given Pookie has free roam of the house whenever he wants and Digi sees him come and go.
Sara - It's not as if she had very far to walk to her food bowl. I mean, from where her basking igloo is placed to where her food dish sat is maybe 2.5 feet, and there isn't anything blocking that path either.
Dawn - What a great idea! Barbara really should write up some form of instructional manual for her babies. Not everyone can live up to her ways of spoiling (that's a compliment )

Uh, yes, but not this soon. (will look for Lily's pics)

Well, I have good news to report. Digi made all gone with her salad today!!! :blob8: She only missed one little piece of greens that fell between her dish and the glass and two worms that somehow burrowed underneath the dish.

I think we have a breakthrough, maybe: While I was giving Digi a bath (so she'd give me a big poop present), Pookie was watching from across the room atop his window perch. After about 20 minutes or so, Digi started to squirm a bit to prepare for the deed, and her movements ended up "upsetting" Pookie a bit and his beard started turning black. Then the head bobbing followed, but no foot stomping. After Digi pooped, I scooped her up, wrapped her in the towel, and sat back down on the couch. Of course, being the little flirt that she is, she decided to crawl out of her burrito and climbed up my shoulder to the top of the couch. Uh oh!, right? That's what I thought too, but surprisingly, Pookie never flew over nor moved from his window, though he was still head bobbing and black bearding. Being the worried mommy that I am, I was focused on whether Pookie was going to make a flying leap over and not watching Digi. Suddenly, from the corner of my eye, I saw her double arm waving at him, but after each set of arm waves, she'd hop forward an inch. Before I knew it, she had moved an entire foot. All the while, Pookie still remained on his perch in front of the window :dontknow:

To make a long story short (because the middle were only me persuading Digi to stay put and telling Pookie that it's ok and that I'm watching her), Digi got within 5 feet of where Pookie was but nobody got hurt. Yup, Pookie still didn't move and his beard was slowing turning back to his normal color. Both of them had been dozing in/out for the past hour, in the same position, knowing the other is only a few feet away.

Oh, one more thing -- Pookie's house wasn't destroyed today! Only a couple things were moved due to the paper towel lining being moved.

Gina, I don't know what it is about your house but you get the strangest reactions from your pets (owners). Digi did go to the right house, she fits in perfectly. She's having fun getting reactions from Pookie. Do you suppose she wanted more of a reaction from him but didn't get it so she tried further? I wouldn't put it past her, at least from the way animals seem to react in your house.

I do believe Digi likes to see Pookie all wound up. She would purposely move to where he could see her, then just sit there and stare. If he doesn't put on a black beard, then she'd shift over more to be more visible. It's not until Pookie does the serious headbobs that she'd start arm waving. Oh, one more thing -- she had never ever showed any stress marks or beard poofs or anything that showed any signs of fear towards Pookie's craziness.
Tonight's little show was quite impressive, to say the least. Wonder if she'll do it again tomorrow.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
