They are alot easier, and they dont smell or get out! And they are breeding like crazy!

I hope she can go to Angell too, all I heard is that they are great with animals. But, I also heard they are really expensive, did they seem that way to you?

Well, as you know they are specialists who have more advanced technology and equipment so yes, they are more pricey than your standard vet is. When I brought Riley to the vet for his urinary incontinence it wasn't to bad, but when I had to bring him in for cardiomyopathy it was an emergency case where he had to be put on medication right away and he also had to be hospitalized for the night. They ran several tests and procedures (x-rays, ultrasounds, etc.) so that bill was large. Just to give you numbers, the estimate they gave me for that visit the night I brought him in as an emergency was between $1,000-$3,000, but the actual bill when we checked out was about $1,200 and I want to say that $150 of that was just the ER admission admission alone which you shouldn't have to worry about.

Of course, my case with Riley is much different than what you have going on with Ella, so it's hard to say where the bill would land in your case. They should give you estimates mattering on what your options are and you can choose the best route for you.

If you do go and decide to get treatment done ask them about the credit card programs that they offer. Basically what happens is that you (or your mom) would apply for a credit card and if approved, that credit card company would pay the bill for you and then you would pay the credit card company back, BUT they offer no interest plans of 6 and 12 months (I think). That's what I had to do with Riley's emergency visit.

But, yes I have no regrets at all in going to Angell. They really are excellent at what they do and they are amazing with the animals.

Thanks for all the info! I'm glad to hear that Riley's feeling better. We will look into that credit card thing, I'm just waiting for the referal. I need to do something soon though, because the tumor unfourantly bled tonight, and thats just a sign that its growing again. It wasnt alot of blood, but I didnt like it. I just want to make sure laser treatment will be the best things. I dont want to put her through another thing if it will be pointless. But with everything she has over come, I cant let her lose this battle. She sure is a trooper though.

I'm so sorry to read about Ella, especially the bleeding. So you need to be referred by your own vet, then they look at options? Hopefully there will be a treatment to get rid of the cancer once & for all. Praying that there is a treatment that will work. Thanks for the update.

I have never read about Elvis's condition before but when i clicked on the link and read her story, it was inspirational. I can not imagine going through all that with my beardie. Elvis's mom us a very strong person. The part that really gets me is that the community/family of beardeddragon.org went actually took it to heart and stepped up to help. That is just amazing. When i first signed up on this website, it was just to learn how to take care of my new beardie and man, i learned alot. But I also saw how much everyone cares about each other and their beardies and how much we all love to see pictures and read posts on just the things our babies do. You all care so much about the happiness of beardies and their owners, its so great. I am so glad that I have my beardie, he is my life. I am so glad that I found this website that keeps Safaree (my beardie) and myself so happy. Keep up the good work beardie friends! Lets keep this such a happy and informational place that it is today. =)

The people on this site are wonderful, the moderators are easy to talk to & give the best advice. There are also people who own multiple beardies that share their stories. I think it's just wonderful & also wonderful that people here were able to help Ella (before Elvis). I'm hoping that this new vet will be able to blast those cancer cells away without any problem for Ella. She's a great beardie. After the original surgery (as Elvis) she laid a bunch of eggs (therefore becoming Ella). She's got alot of curiosity & strength to get through what she did. Her mom is a great beardie slave. Every time I read a story like Elvis's, I realize how lucky I am that our 5 beardies are healthy (thank God) and I hope they stay that way. Ella's mom knows that we'll help her out again if necessary.

I finally just went through the entire story and it was an emotional roller coaster! I cried in some parts and laughed in others. Ella's* mom is so strong! I hope everything works out well and thank you for being so good about keeping us all updated! I hope the new vet says that lasers will get rid of the cancer and it isn't too expensive for you. That little beardie has fought hard! She deserves a long life! Stay strong Kaitlyn! We may not be there physically but we are here to support you!

((((hugs)))) your way!

Hi,
So my computer is finally up and running! The last few weeks have been really uneventful for Ella. Me, on the other hand, with moving I have been busy!

But, the first night we were here it was kind of cold. Not too cold, but for Ella colder then shes used to, so I think it put her in a semi brumation state. She hasnt really done a long brumation this year, and I'm hoping she wont go through one! She has just been sleeping a little more, shes still eating her salads and roaches though. But she also has been drooling a ton still, and I'm beginning to think she may have a tooth problem, but thats pretty understandable. But her vet said her teeth were fine, I specifically asked her to check those out at the last visit. She said they are just a little discolored from babyfood, so this is weird. My mom keeps forgeting to call Angell, we got through with her other vet and got all the right paper work. So once she calls and we get an estimate I will let you all know. My mom said she is going to buy me a new phone next month (the Droid!) but I think i'll hold off on that and just use the money for Ella. My phone now wont charge by itself, I have to plug the battery into a different phone then put it in mine, but I'll be willing to deal with that for a little while more if Ella needs the money.

So thats pretty much it, photobucket is being really slow so I'll put pics up later when it works!

Hi guys!

Whew, what a week. I got my grandmothers bunny (she is moving) and Blaze, plus my brother got a guinea pig (Chewy) for his birthday, but he's only 5 so guess whos taking care of him!

So I am working on making a divider for Ella's tank, because its huge and she doesnt use all the space. Blaze came to me on sand, so I cant wait to take that out and see her non dusty colors. But, apperently Cheryl wasnt keeping up on changing the UVB every 6 months, so now her and Ella need one! But since they will be sharing a cage I might just get a longer one and have them share it. They will each need their own heat light, which I have. Ella is still eating good. Blaze, not so much. But apperently Cheryl let Blaze sleep for a whole month and didnt feed her, so shes still waking up and isnt even that hungry, considering she hasnt eaten in a month.

Ella's tumor is still slowly growing. It really sucks, but shes doing well considering. I have opened a bank account and saving whatever I can. Shes going in for a consultation so then I will know exactly how much I need. I'm scared to find out!

But, the rest of my mini zoo is doing good. I was going to post pictures but realized I havent uploaded many. So I will finish uploading tonight!

Ok--Finally picture time!

I got pictures of Ella and Blaze first meeting each other. First, they didnt notice eachother. But then, Blaze moved and Ella ran towdards her, very angerly, with her mouth open! So, I quickly picked her up and put Blaze back. Ella was going crazy, black bearding and head bobbing (which is weird cause shes a girl?) After I calmed her down I took Blaze back out. And then was able to get some pics:

Ella ended up getting mad and running off to sulk in a corner. She finally came back but wouldnt even look at me!

Oh my, I had no idea how tiny Ella is. Then again, I'm sure Blaze is rather plump, which made Ella look even smaller.
Too funny how she went to a corner to sulk. Poor girl.
Is Sprite an angora??

Ella's tumor is still growing? Fudge! Hope you'll be able to get her to the specialist soon.
Hugs!

Hello Kaitlyn,

Those are great pictures! Ella was jealous....that happens. They do not like to share!
I hope that she is able to adjust soon, but, give her time.
Blaze looks good, too I am happy that you finally got her.
Is Ella doing well?

Hi,
Yes, Sprite is an angora albino lionhead! He's beautiful, but my yaiya who had him didnt do a good job at grooming, so he's covered in mats! I cant get them out, and I'm too afraid to cut the ones close to skin.

Ella is really tiny, but Blaze is plump. Ella 's barely 18 inches, most of it being tail, and is only 226 grams. And unfourantly, the tumor is still growing. She will go to the speacliist after things settle down, probaly next week (we just moved)

She is doing great, other than the tumor! She still eats and basks and has no stress lines, besides for yesterday when she saw Blaze. But, remember how I mentioned a while ago she drools a ton when she drinks? Well now its when she eats too. And its not a little drool, its excessive.

I'm sure she will adjust. Worst comes to worst, they wont ever have to see eachother. I was hoping they would be friends (but not ever share a tank, well technically they do but theres a big piece of plywood glued in the middle  )

Some beardies will tolerate each other, but most like their own territory & any beardie in it will get a warning to get lost! It would be better that they don't see each other, as you don't want to stress Ella out. I can see the lump of tumor in one of the pics, it's not very big, but big enough. Good luck!

Blaze is very pretty, isn't it hard to take pics that show their true colours? I found the same thing, but the pics are great, thanks for sharing.
Hugs to Ella

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
