Hi all
Currently I have a guide to bearded dragons as pets being published so I’m starting some marketing for the book and figured here would be a great place to make a post about it.
The book will be available as a physical paperback, epub digital file or kindle file.
It covered everything you’d need to know as a starting point including a species introduction, health, housing, diet and nutrition, Australian licensing requirements and other information such as anatomy, behaviours etc.
All information in this guide has been reviewed by reptile specialist vets so I can ensure everything is accurate, up to date and vet approved.

Man that is awesome 👌
I know how well you've done with your guys, I suspect the book will be a reflection of that level of attention. I hope it becomes a best seller over night, there isn't enough reliable information out, especially for new keepers

That was definitely my thought with this to help fill in that gap in available information.
I know when it comes to keeping reptiles there’s still a lot of controversy with differing opinions on aspects of care (substrate choice being a big one) so that in itself would absolutely be confusing for those who are new to it all and coming across all these different recommendations and none of us experienced keepers seem to agree on it 😂
This one I wrote more as an introductory guide to give people new to beardies a good start point that they can build off but I am considering at some point in the future doing a sort of ‘sequel’ where I’ll go more in depth into health and rehabilitation things like recognising different health conditions, what treatment for those would generally entail, working with dragons who have unique care needs as a result of health conditions (whether that be illness, injury or physical disability due to improper past care etc) and stuff about managing post proceedure recovery at home (which I’ve done a lot of with Spike) and would for example detail wound care and cleaning, maintaining a sanitary, sterile space, tips for administering medications in various forms (ie oral, intramuscular etc), feeding tube care and management…
Regarding this current guide I have had some interest already so I have at least one vet who definitely wants to stock it, a different vet, pet store and local bookstore who may and some regular people who’ve stated their interest so that’s reassuring.
Particularly given I’ve never written anything before so the whole marketing thing is new to me but that said I’m happy for this little advert to get shared around elsewhere if anyone here knows of someone or some other forums/groups who’d be interested.
Regarding the publishing it seems like it’s in the last stages of the actual editing process so the RRP is being worked out so I’d say there’s probably a good chance it’ll be available for purchase by the end of the year (or sooner)

I can't wait for it to hit the shelves. When it does I'll start hounding the reptile stores in my area to stock it. I know several of the people who actually own the shops, I'll be such a pain in their azzes they'll stock it if nothing else just to shut me up 😉

That would be an amazing help thankyou.
I know for ordering the book that bookstores will get 50% off the RRP for orders and I am currently enquiring with the publisher about whether that discount extends to vets and pet stores who’d stock it too so I can let you know more about that once I have an answer but for individuals looking to buy it would be the full RRP which is also currently being worked out.

Sweet. Just say the word and I'll start a harassment to try to get them to stock it lol. 😁

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
