Today March 29, 2013 marks the day my little home became a little more full and my heart became exponentially more happy. Today I brought home my Zero and I couldn't be happier. I love him for his colors and because he was the only one glass dancing at PetSmart, he instantly fell asleep in my hand, didn't want to be put down, but then pancaked asleep as soon as I let him go. It was love at first laugh with this baby and I'm so excited. When I put him in his viv he again didn't want to be let go. Whether boy or girl, Zero is gonna be so attached to mommy, I can already tell. :)

I love my little Zero and I'm sure this will be a happy life for the both of us :)

The more I think on it, the thing I squished may have been a black cricket from outside? The picture I posted was from another thread on here, and not what I saw specifically. The thing I squished was either something like the picture, some sort of outdoor cricket, or a REALLY ugly spider..

eeww lol my daughter would probably have a heart attack lol she freaks out when a cricket gets loose, the one day she came running and screaming from her room because one of the crickets from my sons frog tank escaped... I explained to her that she is about a billion times larger than one cricket and she could have just stepped on it.. she didn't care

crickets are creepy though. they're always eating other bugs and killing eachother! mealworm beetles are harmless wimps that just crawl around all slow.

Dubias I can survive with at tong length, worms are no big deal, crickets are terrifying because they can jump. No bug should be able to fly, jump, or move quickly.

Did it look like this?

If so, that's a camel/cave cricket. I get them in my basement. Ugly buggers, but totally harmless :) I think it's funny how freaked out people get by bugs. I have never really had a problem with anything unless it is ants invading my home or any kind of hornet or wasp. I actually kind of enjoy handling the dubia roaches - they're kinda neat. I know, I'm really weird...

No, it was definitely all black... I'm SO GLAD that that isn't what I saw... I would've died... and with the bug loving boyfriend out of town all day, I don't know WHAT I'd do if the bug I squished wasn't squishable...

They can be all black - that's just the first picture I found. Were the legs like that at all?

Unless you've got like a 5 inch Hercules beetle (don't worry, only in South America), you can crush pretty much any bug. Might take a good stomp, but you can apply a heck of a lot more force with your leg than pretty much any indigenous North American insect can withstand.

I wanna say its legs were kinda like that, but its body didn't seem quite so fat. Also, it didn't have that weird butt tail thingy.

Also... 5 inches?... dear god...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
