New cage

How do you know when your bearded dragon needs a bigger cage? He is 12 1/2 inches long and in a 20gal. The lady at the pet store told me that would last him a year but I'm starting to doubt that

You need at least a 40 gallon tank, which I believe is on sale at Petco, 1$ a gallon tanks. They still need to get out of that and get some time running around. Sounds like your dragon is growing fast.

Yeah he has grown 2 1/2 inches in just two weeks. I'm like where did my tiny baby go!? I went to pet Co and I'm hesitant to buy the 40 gal because I really want one that opens in the front, not from the top. So I have kinda been waiting for those to go on sale. Do you think he will be fine for another month or so in the 20 gal? He does get out quite a bit to run around.
