We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Oh my Liz, you made me laugh, how in the world could a "specialist" not know that "he" doesn't lay eggs :laughhard: You must have been holding in the laughter!

Hi Nicodemous, great to hear from you and when you do post pics, send me your link so I can check it out. How have you been?

Hi Esther, I don't know how many, but when Jake's female crestie laid fertile eggs, she only laid 2, so I'll have to keep checking and I guess I'll have to give her some extra calcium, too. It was very unexpected, she didn't look any bigger and she doesn't look any smaller, so she sure hid that egg well. :D

Not only that, but they had a reptile show outside and decided instead of taking the diurnal bearded dragon out for the lizard partition, we're going to take out the leopard gecko that just laid an infertile egg and is still restless. That poor little beardie I bet would have enjoyed being out so much more. The little leo wanted nothing to do with it and can you blame her?

Well, they obviously don't really know what they were doing, you should write a letter to get them to improve.

Well it was a long night, the fire alarm went off at 12:30a, I'd just gotten to sleep. There was no fire but there was a woman who lived next door who was in bad shape, not sure if there was abuse there for what happened, but it was 2a before I was allowed to go back home and as the engines were outside my window, it took another hours before they got organized and left. So it was 3a before I went back to sleep and I was up at 8a. Talk about being tired for the day. I'm sure going to be in bed early tonight!

My biggest relief was there was no fire. Picture me with layers of t-shirts with a couple of dragons in each, one layers on top of the are, so all 6 would have been in the layers...that would have been thrilling! At least it was a very warn night. Then what to do with Rocco and Bunny, will have to come up with a plan at some point.

So I feel like a zombie this am, at least they all got their baths, calcium and snuggles & squash yesterday am, today is just worms for everyone.

Guess I'd better wake up, time to get breakfast and get on with my day getting ready for work.

wow, what a night! I'm glad everything was o.k. I would think it would take you a long time, longer than the officials would allow you, to get all your boys (and girl) out in such a case.

I need to get a cat carrier big enough to hold both of our cats, and a small carrier for our hedgie though in a pinch she can be bundled up in a towel and she won't get away. Cho can be held by any of us if we needed it. I think about fire plans more then I should, my house burned down in late '08. Luckily no one was home and we had one of our dogs with us, and our other dog was outside with our normally indoor cat. It's always good to have a plan for any emergency when you need to vacate the house.

but what a terrible and exhausting night! Glad nothing bad happened out of it though, aside from being a bit tired.

I will be shortly, so tired...but I'm just so grateful there was no fire! I'll do a trick I learned from a friend, a t-shirt, 2 beardies, a t-shirt, 2 beardies, a t-shirt, 2 beardies, covered by a t-shirt and a coat. That's the best I could do. I have a great bag for Rocco and Bunny, it has separate compartments. So that is what I'd have to do, there's nothing else I could do!

Oh yeah, I know. I would never leave any of my little ones behind either. Would be hard, but I know I would somehow manage.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
