I had a quick question about watering the worms. . . instead of the whole using carrots etc. Could i use water crystals in a nice big bowl in the middle of the bedding? this would seem to be lower maintenance, much lower, opposed to having to add in carrots etc every few days. This could also seem to fight molding etc, since there is no other organic matter other than the bedding. . .

does anyone know the pros and cons to this?

the only thing i could think of is that if the worms crawl onto the crystals, and then into the bedding it would introduce water onto the bedding.

Awesome. I have over 40 beetles now. I guess I will wait about a month, put them into new bedding and sit back and wait now.

I have about 6 beetles right now and 20 or so in pupae stage *grins*. I hope the beetles are attempting to do some breeding even though I have hardly any!

I only have about 2 dozen to 30 beetles an only had 1 die so far. Believe me they get busy.

Can you see your substrate moving or any worms yet?
Mine are now about 1 to 1-1/2 inches, that is the biggest ones. I get so excited when I can see the noticeable growth, but darn these boogers take their time growing.

The other night I had to change the containers the were in, because the Beetles kept getting out and I would find them in the weirdest places. The good thing was, I did find a couple of worms about the size of a ----> -

Yay. Soon to be full-o-worms.

Hey Barbara, How many worms do you feed yours at one sitting?

About 10 for the adults, the large juvies just about 4 or 5. But I give them roaches and a variety of other worms when the are available along with the supers an of course their salads. I might have to up their roach intake as my colony is unbelievable.

How I love not having to buy feeders. :blob8:

Yeah those beetles show up in some of the stranges places is right. But so do the morphing aliens. :laughing6:
I even have lids on mine. :dontknow:  The other night I found a beetle crawling on the bed
where the hubby was sleeping an a few weeks back hubby found a super that was almost an alien
under our covers. :laughhard:

My largest worms are about this long ___________ sooo coool! :headbang:

An I experimented with a couple different containers of worms they do grow faster if you give them cornmeal or chicken mash an if they are keep in the dark at temps in the mid 80's. :D

I don't seem to be having much luck. I have about 15 beetles together and its been a few weeks now and I still can't see any worms when I sift through the bran.

You may not for another week or 2 but that doesn't mean they are not there. I move my beetles to new substrate every 3 weeks and sometimes I can't see worms yet but if you look very closely you can see the substrate moving. I also find that if I keep my beetles in the warmer room of the house they reproduce better.(mid 70's to about 80*)

Peter Griffin I have worms that are 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches long . :blob8: :blob8: :blob8: :blob8: :blob8: :blob8:
How are yours doing? :)

I have worms out the behind....

I only have one beardie... we ran out of worms so I ordered 250 more... and very soon after we had babies...and now I dont know what to do with them...

Is there a point when the beetles stop breeding? I have had the same batch of beetles for about 3 months now.... and Im not sure if they are still breeding.

Also someone asked about how many you feed your beardie... My Puff hasn't eaten anything but worms for 3 months now... he used to eat vegetables... but not anymore... only worms... someone suggested to me that superworms can be addictive to beardies and they won't want to eat anything but worms... what do y'all think about this?

I was feeding him worms everyday but then in an attempt to get him to eat his veggies I cut him back to about 5-8 superworms 2x a week....

What do y'all think?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
