my new rescue and i need hel identifying what he has

I just today rescued a beautiful beardie boy housed in HORRIFIC conditions and after cleaning his tank and himself i found something i have never seen. Does anybody know what this is?

No clue... It looks like a wound of some sort? I'd get him seen by a vet if that's the case.

Well he hasnt been handled for a long long time. His tank was half poop mixed with sand and dead bugs plus shed. The owner forgot at times to feed him. And he was in a dark corner of a basement with no real lighting and heading lights

Yeah my heart broke when i walked down there and saw all that i saw. I just dont know if it could be caused from no lighing. But i think i will seek a vet

Hi there...poor fella, those are his femoral pores and they are clogged. If you Google " bearded dragon femoral pores" you'll find info there. Sometimes it does need vet attention, sometimes it gets better with warm soaking. It looks like a small sperm plug as well coming from his vent. A good reptile vet will be able to help him and hopefully he'll be O.K

Well i did do some warm soaking today eventho he's aggressive cuz he hasnt been handled in years. But he also has something hanging out of his butt that wouldnt come off and im surely not touching it nor pulling on it.

If the sore is some sort of infection, it might be painful and contributing to his aggression.

Thats exactly what i said to him lol yeah i talk to my dragons like they are human. Im just really worried about the black areas.

You can soak him in warm water with betadine in it, diluted to look like iced tea. Then if you have any antibiotic cream [ but not the kind with painkiller in it ] you can dab some of that on. Or you can get raw honey , it's a great wound dressing , natural antibacterial/antibiotic. Keep him on paper towels or newspaper, no sand or loose substrate.

Thank you so much. This is super helpfull. I did take out all the sand and scrubed out the tank from top to bottom. I know sand of any kind is bad for them so i took care of that problem while he was in his bath as soon as i got him home

Great advice to bathe him in Betadine. Just don't let him drink it. Poor boy. He is so fortunate you took him in.

Hello,

Oh the poor dragon. I simply don't understand how people can abuse animals like that.
The wound looks like it could be infected so as suggested, use antibiotic ointment or unpasteurized honey to help out.
The pores being clogged can cause some discomfort, too. I am sure he is feeling some pain so that would explain some of his aggression along with not being handled at all.
I would recommend a vet visit just to see exactly what type of infection is going on.
The sperm plug will eventually work itself out so a daily bath can help with that also.

Let us know how he is doing.

Thatnks guys im so greatfull for my friends that tell me about these beardies its my second rescue in 3 months. And this one took me back i never thought someone could do that to an animal to lock it away in a basement. Hes getting better by the day thomhes always with me im makes ing a vet visit soo with my friend who he will belong to
