micro chip?

i was wondering if anyone knows if a adult beardie can be micro chipped or if anyone has had it done

I work for a vet that sees exotics and we do alot of microchips.Haven't done one on a BD though.Will find out in morning and post answer if you haven't got one yet.

talk to the vet today he said hes never micro chipped a bd before but he dint see why it could not be done so i think im gonna get it done next month when shes done her worm meds

I have worked for a vet before, and I'm sure they could be chipped. But even if they are, I don't see many people taking a reptile to get scanned for a chip. I mean, people are just getting word that a lot of dogs and cats have chips and you can take them to a shelter or vet to get checked. But to be honest, if I found a reptile in my yard, I would probably not even think to get him checked and would just keep him

I asked the doc i work for and she said the reason why she wouldn't is because the needles in our microchips that tranfer it under the skin is a pretty big guage and she wouldn't want to stick a BD with it.But she did say that it doesn't mean it can't be done.

the reason i would like to have it done is because of my x who stole her before and when i got her back she was in bad shape...im so scared she might try it again and i had a very hard time getting her back last time...and had to pay another 100 in vet bills because she did not bother to take her meds she needed.... :evil:

not to mention when i got her back she was traumatized and has flash backs of what ever they did to her(mabe its better i dont know cause i would hurt them very bad)....sorry to ramble on i apologize i just think i would feel better if she was chipped that way if she ever does get her again(and i pray she dosent) i can prove she is mine....again im sorry to ramble on its just that she IS my daughter and i care for her very much...

That's crazy that someone would do that.It's good if someone finds her and brings her in and tells the vet they found her then they will scan for chip,but if vet don't know it's a lost pet they don't just scan it.Atleast where i work they don't!But if you've had problems before with ex then it would probally benefit you cuz if happens again you have something to prove belongs to you.Just make sure when you get it done to call microchip company and register the chip once it's put in and keep all paperwork!

Hi...The vet I worked for put chips in several snakes for the wildlife people. We never did a dragon tho. If I were you I would call around to find a vet who has already successfully chipped a dragon so yours doesn't become a guinea pig with an infection or worse!

I know a better option get a cage that locks and problem solved then the BD cannot be stolen. In the summer I like to let my dragons sun them self on a cage on the porch you better believe it is locked tight so I can leave them out there for a while and not worry about anyone stealing them.
