Hi all,

For Baron's Memorial, click here http://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=194292

Baron Nashor gave me a lot, and because of my Chronic Depression and Anxiety, when he passed so suddenly it was almost impossible to bear. I still miss him, very much. And that will never stop. But as I walked into PetSmart today, to see if they had another Dragon and not even intending to buy, I saw this little baby.

I knew this baby would fill the space in my house that Baron had filled and emptied so quickly.

In many ways for many people, it will be to soon. But for me it's not...just because I have a new dragon to care for and adore does not mean I will miss Baron any less and mourn for him any less. It means that I can refocus my sadness on the dedication to do better. It's the only way I can cope with my depression.

So I introduce, Cho'Gath the Beardie.

This was a bit more sad then I intended.

Cho'Gath is very active and very alert. He's way more skiddish then I'm used to, so he's getting a lot of time alone and we'll start working on handling and everything, as right now when I put my hand in the Viv he gets very mad, puffs up and gapes. Makes me smile a little, since he is so different from Baron and I have to get used to that.

Talking with the Gov is like pulling teeth...I've asked the same question over and over and I haven't gotten it answered at all yet...Ugh.

Cho loved the chicken & veg/squash/CC! He ate an 1/8 of a tsp for breakfast! I'm so glad. He was patient with me and stayed in my hand and only started running up my arms when he was done eating. Whew.

He pulled some scales off around one of his nostrils, though. It's all purple and bruised and a bit swollen. Not impairing his breathing at all, and he didn't pull away when I was gently checking it out to make sure it was okay. It was not like that yesterday, and I'm wondering how it happened. I think he likes to run around scratching his head on the slate...so probably that way.

The permit has been printed, signed, scanned and emailed off. Will mail it tomorrow before work. Reptiworms and I talked about in a few months if I'm willing to reapply for a Business Import Permit and go through the right channels(though I'm not sure where I would start??) being a small scale reseller for them in Canada which would be cool. For now I'll keep it personal and give a few hundred out here and there, like to you Deb.

Cho'Gath ate 1/4 of a tsp of baby food and 4 crickets. He got breakfast and lunch for baby food and crickets for dinner. He's really eating well, considering we've had him just over a week.

It'll be nice if it does! I'd be one of the first Authorized Resellers for them in Canada I think, and for sure the first in BC.

I'm retracting his eating statement...He ate a total of 8 crickets now today. I left four more in his tub and I went to check in on him and he had eaten the rest. Such a hungry boy goodness.

Poor Cho, he might have had a bit of shed there, maybe? I always use the cream polysporin on dragon booboos, just a touch will help with the bruising and he'll be good as new soon. I'm so glad to hear he's improving with crickets, and that the loves the chicken/veg, squash & CC combo. It will all help and when you get the next batch of crickets, bet he eats more and more. To the point you might want to offer crickets first thing b4 babyfood, see how he does.
I'm looking forward to the phoenix worms, I'm going to try to grow them like in the article on here, as those will go fast if I'm feeding them to Titan (who is now up to 15 supers a day, now that I'm out of roaches). I have someone in Langley that will sell me juvies, but he's out of them right now, have to wait until end July, so until then it's supers for Titan. He won't eat large crickets anymore (for which I'm grateful) but it would be nice to give him a different worm until the roaches are back again. I have tons of babies, but none of them are big enough for him yet, so I can't touch my colony until September at least. I'm going to offer them to the geckos and see what they think.

I agree, the worms will be nice. And I will start offering crickets before baby food. He understands how to gt in the tub as well, but he's to little to get out when he's done eating. When he finished his last round of crickets I went in there and saw him plastered up against the wall all "HELP MEEEE'. So until he's big enough I'm going to have to not leave it in there with him if I'm not home.

We got 50 crickets today. I didn't want to get a lot and have them grow to large for him or die off. We can pick more up easily when he goes through them. He had 8 of those, all small enough for his little self. But he loved his baby food, I was so glad he ate it willingly instead of trying to jump out of my hands and run up my arms and onto my back where I have trouble reaching him.

I'll pick some polysporin up for his nose as well.

And yes! Just like his namesake, he eats a lot.

Cho ate almost 1/4 of a tsp this morning alone. I left 10 crickets in with him for his lunch if he would take them. Will see when I get home, still at work. But it was a lot. I had to cut him off-he was still licking it out of the spoon if I offered it to him but he looked so full and was slowing right down.

He eats really well at least. Meep.

Photo's from after today's dinner with him. As you can see, he's eating a lot. I don't think even Baron was this big. Especially not so soon after we got him. Cho ate 3/8ths of a tsp today, and he did eat 2 crickets while I was at work.

Wow, he's a little chubster, it's great to know he's eating so well, he'll be vacuuming up crickets in no time flat! He's grown already since you've had him!\

He has! His tail is, I think, starting to go into preshed. Once Monday rolls around we'll see how much he's grown. I'm hoping at least 1/4-1/2 an inch.

He was already going to shed when he came to me, so this will be his first full shed with me. :love5:

And he's so chubby. When I held him last night I was thinking 'Jeeze, I feed you anymore and you won't be able to pick yourself up!'
He's getting better with handling, too. Though when I want to cuddle with him at night he'll wake right up and want to run around, up my head, on the pillows, around my neck, get tangled in my hair...He is getting better about not jumping off the bed though. I think he's finally started to learn.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
