Hi all,

For Baron's Memorial, click here http://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=194292

Baron Nashor gave me a lot, and because of my Chronic Depression and Anxiety, when he passed so suddenly it was almost impossible to bear. I still miss him, very much. And that will never stop. But as I walked into PetSmart today, to see if they had another Dragon and not even intending to buy, I saw this little baby.

I knew this baby would fill the space in my house that Baron had filled and emptied so quickly.

In many ways for many people, it will be to soon. But for me it's not...just because I have a new dragon to care for and adore does not mean I will miss Baron any less and mourn for him any less. It means that I can refocus my sadness on the dedication to do better. It's the only way I can cope with my depression.

So I introduce, Cho'Gath the Beardie.

This was a bit more sad then I intended.

Cho'Gath is very active and very alert. He's way more skiddish then I'm used to, so he's getting a lot of time alone and we'll start working on handling and everything, as right now when I put my hand in the Viv he gets very mad, puffs up and gapes. Makes me smile a little, since he is so different from Baron and I have to get used to that.

League of Legends inspired name. Lol. I knew I couldn't be the only one. My puppy's name is Teemo. Went with a video game related name on my last beardie so I changed it up a bit this time. Very cute.

My condolences on your lost dragon. I just lost my first baby too. It's heartbreaking.

Thank you. Baron was a very special Dragon for me, not only because he was my first but of all the emotional growing he helped me do. It is not easy not having him around anymore, even if I only had him for just over a month and a half.

Cho'Gath is a beautiful baby, I just have to get used to having one so little again.

I'm getting used to having a little one as well. Have had my new baby, Walrus, for 5 days now. It's hard adjusting. I had Charmander for a year and it was very rough losing him.

I'm sorry for your loss as well. I'm sure Charmander was very well loved(I also love that name!)

Cho got some chicken and veg baby food. I lost my syringe and I had to feed him from the tip of a spoon...He was very hungry and ate way faster then I thought he would. Keeps doing big deep breaths, makes it look like he has hiccups. When I had Baron on some baby food he did the same the first day, so I know it'll pass.
Gave him a bath and he thrashed around so much in hate I'm worried he has water in his ears now.

Looks like Cho is following Baron's path of worrying me.

36x18x18, Slate Tile, ReptiSun 10.0 24" UVB, Basking spot is between 102-109 depending on where you take the temp from. He's got a hammock, and a tupperware tub in there with crickets if he wants them, but hasn't gone after them today hence the baby food feeding. He has a bowl of greens in there as well but hasn't gone near them.

He's pooped yesterday and today too! Go Cho'Gath Go!

I'm not to worried about it, because Baron put me through these same motions when I first got him. From what I've experienced, if they eat the baby food to fast they get this 'hiccup' like breathing pattern. I think it's from maybe aspirating on the food a little bit or something similar. It passes very quickly.
Edit: I just went and checked on him and his breathing is all back to normal.

good. Mine eats squash baby food and he doesn't hiccup. He does lick the air like a big dufus for a bit after though.

I did enough research on this site before I got Baron to know everything when it comes to set up. ^^;

As for the hiccup breathing, I just have to slow him down more. I honestly didn't expect him to eat so fast! He cleaned the spoon off before I even noticed. I felt so bad.

Is it normal for them to poop 2-3 times per day? Cho'Gath has pooped a grand total of 3 times today! THREE TIMES. When we got Baron, while he wasn't much bigger, he was bigger. So I'm wondering if it's because Cho is smaller, or maybe even younger(Baron was 5 weeks when we got him)?

He's eating like a little monster with baby food, but I'm wondering about how to supplement it properly. I'm feeding him the Heinz Stage One Chicken and Veg, since I couldn't find a straight chicken or turkey when I went out to pick up Baby Food just in case Baron stopped eating.
Mind you he isn't eating much, and has maybe eaten an 1/8th of a teaspoon today. But he's eating it, and that's what counts.

Oh yeah, they poop a lot. Zy and Jace did up to 3/4 months old/

You can probably mix some of the spray or powder into it to supplement.

I'm worried about over supplementing him, but I'll try and figure out an appropriate measurement for it. I'll probably consult the feeding topic to get more advice as well. His little belly is so full, and because he's dizzy from the water(dangit, I hated when Baron went through this and I hate it just as much with Cho), he's not going up on anything high. Moved his viv around, he's on his hammock below his lights with his feeding tub under it, only 4 inches up instead of the 7 on his custom rock. I want him to digest properly and not hurt himself.

Also, how would you know if he's freaked out by the size of his viv?

How long is he? Assuming that he is the typical 3"-4" size beardies then yes. You can try putting a partition up and seeing if that helps.

Well, I know it varies dragon to dragon. Baron didn't care. and Cho doesn't seem to care aside from him running away from my hand once and a while and bumping into the glass. But I'm more looking for like, signals on what shows they are. I might put a partition up anyways and see how he acts about that though.

It's very strange getting used to a new routine with Cho'Gath, Deb. I was wondering when you would see all of this. I hope your trip is going very well! Montreal has always been a place I would love to visit, and the worms are still on plan and I'm going to be filing for that permit tomorrow since Brandon and I get paid then. Hopefully I'll have some this time next month(or earlier!) and you can come over and get some for your Boys and meet Cho'Gath and see Baron's Garden.

Cho'Gath is doing well, he ate 3 crickets this morning, and a 1/8th of a teaspoon of baby food with calcium and multi mixed in for tonight. He has such a full belly when he was done dinner! He's so little, and is starting to get used to me so he's clinging a lot. Yesterday he managed to cling to my hand upside down and defy all laws of logic and gravity for almost a minute before he fell. Of course he didn't fall far, I had my other hand right under him.
He isn't afraid to stake his claim on the bed though and venture away from me; however I'm always quick to scoop him back up and keep him close.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
