Meet Cho'Gath

Baron Nashor gave me a lot, and because of my Chronic Depression and Anxiety, when he passed so suddenly it was almost impossible to bear. I still miss him, very much. And that will never stop. But as I walked into PetSmart today, to see if they had another Dragon and not even intending to buy, I saw this little baby.

I knew this baby would fill the space in my house that Baron had filled and emptied so quickly.

In many ways for many people, it will be to soon. But for me it's not...just because I have a new dragon to care for and adore does not mean I will miss Baron any less and mourn for him any less. It means that I can refocus my sadness on the dedication to do better. It's the only way I can cope with my depression.

So I introduce, Cho'Gath the Beardie.

This was a bit more sad then I intended.

Cho'Gath is very active and very alert. He's way more skiddish then I'm used to, so he's getting a lot of time alone and we'll start working on handling and everything, as right now when I put my hand in the Viv he gets very mad, puffs up and gapes. Makes me smile a little, since he is so different from Baron and I have to get used to that.

I'm glad he's already getting used to you and yes, I'll be good to come get some worms when they come in, it'll be fun to see how my crew like them. Did you still want to cover for the tank? Let me know, I get home on Monday morning sometime. I'm in Quebec City now at my aunt and uncle's. They're having their 60th wedding anniversary next week so we're taking them out on Saturday night. Can't wait for that! It'll be alot of fun.

I'll be okay without the lid until you come get the worms I think. With the Viv in another room, I could probably go lidless except for needing it to keep the UVB mounted(in my eyes, easier then using the command hooks). But I would rather be safe then sorry with what happened.

And what a big milestone for your Aunt and Uncle!

Cho ate well today, almost 1/4 of a teaspoon and 4 crickets. Has pooped 4 times so far too.

He's still doing his deep breathing thing, mostly after eating though. I'm not sure why, I'm making sure he isn't eating to fast. But he does it when he eats crickets, too. There's a slight pop with it, but I don't know if that's because he opens his mouth when he exhales or a URI. Though it if was a URI would it not be all the time instead of just when he eats? And I know the humidity isn't to high for something like that I think...

I'm keeping a close eye on him, and will do some looking into other symptoms of URI.

I've been very lucky and have never had a dragon with URI, but you might want to post this in health to get a better idea. I think the sound is closer to a clicking, but I"m not sure. I'll let you know when I can get out to your place, it will depend on gas $ :roll: I'll let you know.

I checked some other symptoms from other people on the forum experiencing URI, and he doesn't have any mucus or any other discharge and it doesn't happen all the time. I guess depending on how far along it is, it can just fix itself if the heat stays up. I will keep a very close eye on it though. The moment it progresses he's being brought straight to a vet.

And that's fine Deb! Mailing out the application tomorrow since I didn't have time today with doing laundry and reorganizing the bedroom better to fit the bookshelf and viv.

I wouldn't worry about the sounds. Jace used to do it when eating dubia and has stopped making the noise now... I did stop feeding him dubia as well, so that may or may not have something to do with it.

Ah okay! I'm glad Cho'Gath isn't the only dragon who's done it. Hopefully when I stop feeding crix/baby food and get him on the worms he'll stop.

Cho is hard to get pictures of. He loves squirming away from me and running around. But here are some pictures of the other night.

He's going to shed his body and his head, I can tell. His body is getting more and more off coloured every day.

You can kind of see it on his tail, but that's only a taste of his full body. He's eating so well, too. Nothing like Baron when I first got him. Cho'Gath always has a big tummy.

I'm glad to hear he's eating well. Definitely a good sign. Jace was an on-again-off-again eater when I first got him and Zy has always been a pig.

It's good to hear that Cho is eating well, he sure has a cute little belly!

He ate almost a full 1/4 tsp today, and I still get to feed him dinner in 2 and a half hours. His little toes are starting to shed, so we should be seeing his colours soon!

So uh...His shed exploded. A nice bath got any extra he had hanging on his footsies and belly off. He's still got parts of his head to do as well.
