does any 1 know how the main superworm providers breed them and sort them, i would think that using only film containers would get frustrating fast

thanks,

There are are lot of great resources found on the internet, it is going to take determination to find the answers you want because this is not a widely discussed topic. To become established in any industry it will also take a bit of ingenuity. Learn how to raise superworms before you try to raise on any scale larger than personal use, your chances of success are far greater if you go in that order. Raising bugs or anything for that matter seems easy on paper but in real life there are hundreds of things that will go wrong, they will only cost you more money, and you won't have product to recoup costs because of the hickups. So start slow, babies are not born big for many reasons ;)

Sifting takes a lot of ingenuity friend, mechanical might I add. Or drop in front/behind of a large fan, the large supers fall out of the wheat bran and the wheat bran will blow away, best to set this up outside obviously (just the fan, you can drop them indoors with the fan blowing out the window). I also suggest figuring out a way to pre-sift before you do this step. You need to be creative, no one is going to share their secrets ;)

thanks, i kinda figured i would get the " highly guarded secret" answer.
ive been breeding small scale up till this point (50 beetles at a time), and i just watched the dirty jobs episode when they breed mealworms so i have an idea of the sorting, now i just have to come up with a better way to pupate them

Instead of film containers i use the plastic containers used for tackle boxes or jewely making, or even pill holders for different days of the week. They are like 5$ at walmart and one of them can hold up to 20 worms. They can breath through them and work very well for me and i dont have 100 film containers laying around :) i dont even know wherento get film containers anymore. Lol good luck!

Try germination trays from a gardening store/section of a store. Some have small holes in the bottom of each tray. You can hit it with a glue gun or drop a nickel in each one. If you find the right ones you can avoid lids.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
