You want 2 of these before you do anything w/ the heat bulb
One for your cool side of the tank and one for the basking side -- place the probe on the spot where he bask wait 10 min or so then get the temp how old is he? For a baby 105-110- juvie/ 6 months or older 95-100
what are you using for a UVB?

I already have non adhesive reptile carpet but I wasn't sure a good way t clean so I switched to sand. When I use vinegar do I soak then rinse?

Hi there, he is ready to shed so it does look like that spot is the first area to shed . There IS a slight possibility that it's a small burn from being so close to the light. You can put a small dab of unpasteurized honey on it which will help if it is a burn. You should also turn the basking log so he can't get so close to the heat. If the 100 watt bulb is not getting the tank warm enough your dragon will need a stronger heat bulb but to be further away from it.

Thank you ,yes it looked different from his usual shedding. But I was worried it was a fungus but I can tell it hurts when I touch that spot. Idk if fungus would do that so I'm leaning towards a burn or possibly shedding

It's not fungus and it doesn't mean it hurts if he flinches when you touch it. It's a normal reflex to not want that area to be touched.

Ok but the carpet do I need to rinse or just let that solution dry
Dont use the vinegar/ water on the carpet -- I am sorry I thought you were talking about the shelf liner -- that people wash by hand like w/ dawn and then let dry --

You have to wash carpet constantly, get non adhesive shelf liner instead. Or keep the sand and add some plain topsoil from the gardening center.

My thoughts and opinions on flooring since i see others commenting on it
1. sand no, you don't want them eating it causing digestive issues.
2. No carpet. the poop will cause bacteria in it even after cleaned and his nails can get stuck in it.
3. Other options.
Floor Tiles (Cost Less than $1 a tile) From a home improvement store get some rough floor tiles. these will also help sand down and keep your beardies nails down

Newspaper, not as pretty as the grass, but you can throw it away keeping bacteria from your enclosure.

MY Favorite Option I have a Zen Habitat, so I have also one of their floor mats. It is a black leather Looking material, Easy to spot clean with a old tooth brush with out taking it completely out of the enclosure.

As for your lights. Those dubble Domb ones is not enough. I suggest getting one of the long bulbs so your guy can have uvb in more than that one spot and maybe a LED on the side of the tank opposite of your basking area so on their cool side of the tank they can still have light.

I am having issues with the bulbs. I'm going back and fourth but I have gotten him a better bulb. I was told the long lights they are getting discontinued 🤷 and the sand I am watching him close but I like the newspaper idea!

I think you have no worries on that, i just searched that as I had never been told they would be discontinued before. It is the T12 that will soon not be made. The big fat ones you see if offices, and hospitals ect...
T5 is what we use for reptiles.
So you are good to get a ReptiSun T5 10.0 UVB or Arcadia T5 14%

Arcadia is harder to find locally in the USA. So if you go with them pick up two to have a back up for sure.

Here is what i have in my set up to give you a idea.

On top of these I use a UVB meter.
My hide was custom made and the UVB at the basking area is at the perfect Fergson zone lvl for her.

People do tell me having my UVB go all the way across is not good. I choose to disagree. Bearded dragons live in the dessert, with all that UVB consistently in the day unless they Hide. as you will see I have plenty of Hiding space and my baby.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
