denise, yea ive decided against that. he might poke his eye or eat a piece. sorry no new posts for a while, ive been really busy... ill try to get to this thread more often.
mummybear, yea that was a nice day while it lasted... lol, here its friday and i want another! he sure is getting faster. you wouldnt believe him yesterday... he RAN about a 3-4 feet in about 3 seconds! it was crazy. his little legs were moving so fast i could barely see them.
more pics coming soon, thanks for your support.
ok this is something ive been wanting to try:
i did a little experiment last night: it has been getting pretty cold at night(65F) an i have been worried about my little guy(L.G.). now i know normally people dont recomend using heat pads at night because beardies cant sense heat from below. i dont have a ceramic heat emmiter(they're like 40 bucks) thats the one thing i still need...
i decided to take out this small heat pad ive had in a drawer and test it. i taped the temp probe to the bare heat pad and waited 45 minutes to see how much heat it gave off. after about 32min the temp stabilized at approx. 100.8 degrees, much too hot for nighttime temps... i took a couple of hand towells and wrapped them neatly around the heat pad until there were a few layers. i then re-tested, but this time i used a stone to press the probe into the towell. after about 35 minutes the reading came out: 82.4 8) . you had to actually press on it gentley to feel any heat. i was carefull in hiding all the wires and i put a heavy piece of wood over the sides of the towell so he couldnt dig under it(though ive only seen him do that in dry leaves outside).
i put the heatpad/towells into the corner of his tank where he likes to retreat sometimes. i decided not to turn it on until the temps got low so i waited... at about 1:30AM the temps got to about 70, and ive gotten up at 5AM before to find the temp at 66... i didnt want to wake him up but i really didnt want him getting down to 65 degrees. i gentley woke him up with the sound of my voice and i let him see me coming to pick him up. he felt cool to the touch and un-flexible, which reinforced my decision to move him. i placed him on the towell and let him go back to sleep. when i checked in on him 20 minutes later he was fast asleep about an 1" from where i put him. i checked him at about 6 this morning; the temps were almost the same, 82.1. i just unplugged it alittle while ago since its starting to warm up. i am trying to get a ceramic heat emmiter but until i do i s this ok?
let me know what you think everyone...
