It goes away after a bit, almost like he's digesting or whatever. I'm not really sure.

It actually sounds like he's having trouble chewing them up. What size are the crickets? Are you removing the back legs to make it easier for him to get them down? Seems to be that 15 in a day is an awful lot for him, I would go easier on the protein as you don't want to overtax his system.

About the chewed up food, beardies actually store food in their beards. So he could have been saving it for later, LOL! Yum. Sometimes if Dudley gapes after he eats a lot, you can see the food in his beard.

No, I put them in the freezer for five minutes before I feed them to him. And they are smallish. I'm giving him the same size I give Yoshi and he is only 13" and about 130g. Bowser is like, 210 and AT LEAST 17". I only gave him about 10 today, though. Would waxies be easier for him? I didn't have any left, so that's why I gave him crix. Or should I go back to baby food?

EDIT: Just went in my room and Bowser had thrown up all crix from today and like, two or three waxies. But he hasn't eaten waxies in prolly three or four days. Now what?

Awww poor baby

Hows the CHE I sent you working out? High enough watt?

As for the wax worms..

Here this might help..

http://www.waxwormkit.com/

It works great, thanx so much! And wow! DEFINITELY gonna have to get some stuff from that site!

I called the vet today and here's what he said... If he's throwing up undigested food, it's a metabolic issue. So for now, I have to keep his heat up during the day, and let him cool off at night, and make sure to give him 3-4mL of water each day to keep him hydrated. I'm supposed to skip the food today but start again tomorrow (I'm gonna do baby food or a slurry. I don't want to do live crix hand feeding again.). Next week, I'm supposed to call them with an update. If this doesn't help, it may be a metabolic disease he was born with which will require bood tests to figure out.

So... here's the link to donate, since at least a vet visit seems to be in Bowser's future. I'd really appreciate ANYTHING at this point. I already owe the vet for my cat, plus my mom for my health insurance, plus my roommate for crix I begged them to buy for me since I was broke. Ugh... Being an adult SUCKS!

I have been out of touch for a while, but im back now :)

I'm sorry to hear about poor Bowser's eating/digestion problem, what if you make him a slurry of crix and veg? might make it easier to digest? I know for dogs and people that warm food gets absorbed and digested easier, dont know if it will work for beardies....

Maybe some one here can tell you if it will work?

How is He doing? And Yoshi?

Yoshi is great! The waxworms have put on some grams, I'm sure. I don't have a scale but he is most definitely bigger than when I started giving him some. LOL He's got a belly now, so they are for treats from now on.

Bowser hasn't thrown up since the last time. But, I also haven't force-fed him any, either. He ate one waxworm yesterday on his own and none today, but I don't want to make him eat something. I know that the water and calcium I have to push on him prolly stresses him out enough. He hasn't really pooped, either, that I've seen, so I'm thinking that he does have some kind of digestive issue. Possibly he doesn't digest as fast as a normal beardie does?

Anyway, I made him a slurry today of collards, veggie/beef baby food, red grapes, water, and crickets. That was the grossest thing I've ever done. I can feed crix to a lizard, but something about putting them in a blender gives me the heebee jeebees. I haven't fed him any yet, as i just gave him about 5.5 mL of water and his calcium, so Im going to wait til I feed Yoshi his crix and then I will give Bowser some of the slurry, with some cc added in.

Idk. He seems alert, still. But he sleeps SO MUCH, too. I know this isn't a quick process by any means, but I thought by now, I'd be noticing a bigger difference. :(

aw, you're such an awesome caregiver. i don't know if i could do that, or if i did i'd never use that particular blender for myself ever again.

I'm pretty sure its going to take a long time for him to get back to normal eating habits and being a "normal" beardie, Bowser yhas been through alot and his body has to perk up again, just like when you have been ill for a while... you still feel flat when you have recovered.

as for the slurry I put crix in the freezer 1st - they splatter less. :puke:
and I brought a separate hand blender for the beardie food, I could never use it for my food ever again!

Glad Yoshi is doing so well tho, he can be Bowser's role model
