Hello Barbara,
It amuses me to hear how she "lets herself out"......... do all your beardies have open doors in the viv's, Barbara? Are you afraid of loosing one in a nook or crannie?................ I would love to do that but I have viv's that open at the top. How old were they before you let them run free?
Also, what are "white worms"?
Thanks Deborah for explaining the white worms for me.
If you keep your supers well fed and
hydrated they will grow an as they grow they will shed making them nice and tender. Mmmmm.........soft worm! But they only stay this way for a short time.
As far as open door viv's go well mine are all 40 to 75 gal tanks that open at the top. But I don't use screens, mine are open to let in all the UVB from their MVB's. Plus I always have my hands in someones viv for some reason, so the screens are a pain in the you know what. If I'm leaving the premises and there is no-one here to watch them for me I have to put the screens on while I'm gone. But this only makes them mad and when I do get back they either give me the cold shoulder treatment or are really drove on getting out.
I don't worry to much about loosing one of them they usually either just want to perch on top or they are looking to see what I'm doing in another room.
Now Itty Bitty and Z&W mom Ms. Peaches(R.I.P.) she was another story. She didn't let herself out of her viv. I just had to watch her closely when I'd let her out. Because she would try to let herself out the cat door. I had to catch her by the tail one time.
But the ones I have now only want to be the center of attention.
Itty Bitty & PVT Blaze usually only do this when I'm not in the room their viv's are in.
Like when I'm sitting at the computer not paying attention to them.
I usually start taking them for rides when they are around 2 months old of course I take a carrier just incase they get fiesty. This helps to prepare them for roaming the house. So by the time they are about 3 months old I let them out to roam. Keep in mind I don't take my eyes off of them not even for a second an it's only for short periods.
