Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

So I noticed sometimes Merlin folds his feet up on his basking rock, does that mean it's too hot for his taste?

Also, the basking rock's surface temp is roughly 110 degrees in the most concentrated spot. In that particular picture he's in the hottest spot. 40 gallon tank, Reptisun 10.0 T8.

110 should be safe. I see them curl their toes like that when they sit and I don't worry about it much. If his feet were being harmed I'd imagine he would just move to a cooler area. 110 shouldn't cause any burns or problems though.

I understand. The fretting never really stops. Since you can't communicate with them easily it's a bit stressful trying to give them what they need. Just means you care. How far is your T8 from the basking area? Those have an optimal output at around 6-8''.

Mine is for sure too high, it's sitting at roughly 15" gonna rig something in the morning, little fella is asleep for now.
