Is this normal for brumation?

Do beardies sleep all the time or can they sleep, move around, stay awake but not come out of their hide?

Everyone is different, mine moves around and wakes up about once a week just to come out and look at me. Then back to sleep.

i agree ... brumation or semi-brumations ... i think each are different for each beardie.
my beardie Blue went down in november ... she has a pattern kind of ... she sleeps like a log for about 4 days, then i wake her for a warm water soak and a few bites of greens, she will bask for 30 minutes, then back to sleep for another 4 days, repeat :)

some can "nap" alot, some can just hang out awake on the cool side, some can sleep on/off, and some just SLEEP, deep sleep.

i know when she first starting doing i freaked out. it is her first brumation and she under a year, so she began to brumate at 7.5 months. ive since calmed down and kind of let her biological work naturally, and can only wiat till she decides she's ready to be pitter pattering around again.

so yup, they can do any of those things, generally a full on full blown brumation seems to be a constant sleep, but so many beardies are different in how they brumate ... is yours starting to show signs?

They all are different. I have 5 adults; Rubio is 3 yrs old, he's sound asleep. Didi is 5 yrs old & he's had 2 short brumations so far. Lonzo is 8 yrs old and he's up & down every 2-3 days. It's as if he can't miss anything, even if everyone is asleep. Leo is 4 & he's awake every day, but hardly moves, I think he just likes to watch the TV  Sweetie will sleep 3-4 months & she's 5 yrs old.

So every one is different & sometimes every winter is different again. There's no rhyme or reason to what they do. Following your beardie's biological responses are best, just make sure she's really well hydrated. It sure is quiet when they're sleeping

ya a question I have is my dragon likes to go down near the bottom in sort of a dark hide for most the day latey. He is always hungry in the morning when I get up and is waiting up on his perch under the heat for food but when i come home in the aftrernoon lately he is in the back corner with eyes open. and when i put the crickets in the dusting bag up in front of his tank so he can see them he barely budges. he used to eat well both morning and late afternoon but now its almost nothing i can do to get him to eat his dinner. semi-brumating?? sometimes I will push him out of there and put him in his feeding bin... and then it takes him a minute or so to eat half the crickets then stop eating. used to gobble them all up within a few minutes. (still does this in the AM eating session).

why the laziness around dinner lately??

I am far from an expert but that sounds normal as well. It sounds like he is either toying with the idea of brumating or that is the way he is going to do it. I would let him know dinner is there but not move him. You don't want him eating dinner then going back to his hide spot and not digesting his food.

ya Orion just does not have the same vigor any more to want to eat but still eats very lazily. And he goes down in the colder dark hiding spot in his viv a lot more often.

I did get a new cat about a few week ago and the cat tries to friendly play with him but he might take it as aggression and is stressed out?? or semi brum??

He just kind of goes half way out of the hiding spot (which isnt even much of a hiding spot.. its just a back half tunnel) and see the crickets in the feeding bin. Usually without hesitation he runs right into the bin. I grabbed a cricket and put it up to him.. he got almost scared of it the eventually grabbed it out of my fingers. Nothing has changed minus the cat the last few weeks trying to go after him a bit.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
