Humidity Level

Hello,
Having an issue keeping the Humidity Level Down,I have a Digital hygrometer and right now it is reading 47%. I do have a water dish,can I remove the water dish sure this is what is making it stay to high.

Yes you can, you don't need to have a water dish in the tank.

MOST dragons don't recognize standing water, so a water dish is pretty much useless.

I was considering a small non-electric dehumidifier for inside the tank myself. Namely, Eva-Dry mini dehumidifier and damp-rid. I sent an email to damp-rid asking if their product was safe for use as such, but if anyone else happens to know that'd be great too.

Right now mine is reading like 44% I have a digital thermometer/hyvrometer with probe. It is located 1/2 way up tank and more on the cool zone.

I spoke with a man at the damp-rid company and after telling me damp-rid would not be suitable for my needs he recommended a small electric (condensation based, not chemical based) dehumidifier, such as the ones people use in gun cabinets. The non electric, chemical based ones can dehydrate the animal, where the other only takes moisture from the air.

I did remove the water bowl I was using and the humidity dropped to 30%, but it spikes back up at night after his lights are off so I am going to get one and run it at night, and see how it works out. I will let you know if it works well.

Yeah I removed the water dish as well. And it dropped to like 33-35% and just like you once lights are out it jumps back up to low 40's. What I might try is a heat emitter

I had some issues with humidity getting too high during the prolonged heat wave we had this summer (seemed like we had over 2 weeks where it didn't drop below 80F even at night. With the summer humidity we get in Chicago, anything over 80F is pretty uncomfortable. I tried an Eva-Dry dehumidifier, but it only brought the humidity level down a couple percentage points. I also used a night light bulb for my dragon, as night humidity levels were hitting well over 50% without it. I finally broke down and bought a window air conditioner for my main living area, maybe next year I'll try an electric dehumidifier. :|

mines jump at night also but do you really have to worry about the humidity 24/7?

Mine is under control,as of right now.I put the water dish back in and Humidity level has be averiging around 28-32%ButI think that is mainy becasue here in NJ the humidity Level In NJ has been very low.when we had the heat wave ,and high humidity it would be high in his housingeven with central AC on it was still high at times. So hopefully with the cooler weather coming it will stay where it should be.
