I heard that the infrared bulbs are bad for the dragons since they are one of the only lizards who can see the red.

It depends. You only need a night time heat source if it gets below 65. If it does, you can use a ceramic heat emmitter.

use a heat emitter. produces head but no light so it wont disturb your bearded dragon while its trying to sleep

I use a ceramic heat emitter thats plugged into a thermostat so the heating only comes on at night when the temperatures drop too low and it doesnt let out any light. I aslo use it during the day to give the basking spot an extra heat boost in case the normal bulbs arent giving out enough heat. Investing in a CHE and thermostat was the best thing i did. I now dont have to worry if the basking temps wont be high enough during the day and if it will get too cold at night. Also while the CHE is more expensive than ordinary basking bulbs they do last a lot longer.

Another thing that works (for me) is to keep a basking ROCK. These stay warm most of the night from previous sunlight/ bulb light.
