How many phoenix worms should I feed?

We just got one of those trial cups of phoenix worms and our BD, Oz, loves them. She is 18" and a yr old, give or take a couple weeks. She is eating more greens now and I would like to know how many of the worms to feed to her. I don't want her filling up so she doesn't eat her greens. At her vet visit last week, she was given a clean bill of health. I would just like to know about the worm feeding. Thanks.

With Phoenix worms I suspect it will come down more to your budget than anything else. They are pricey worms, but excellent feeders rich in calcium and low in fat. I'd let them eat as many as they want but you might go broke doing that. If you feed other things, you could use them as a supplement and feed maybe 5-10 a day. When he was about 6 months, Dash could consume an entire cup of 50 every day if I let him. Needless to say, that was breaking the bank so he started getting them as supplements and we went back to Dubias and crickets until he was over 16". Now he eats primarily superworms and hornworms, plus his collard green and squash salad. I think he's beginning the shift to more greens and less protein.

Emily, you would need to be careful with Superworms as they aren't recommended for beardies under 16" due to a digestive tract kink they have when smaller than that. Hornworms on the smaller side might be OK as they are soft and squishy with no hard shell.

I'm not having a problem with ANY worms, since I can't find any around here at all - I am not done yet! I refuse to give up! The phoenix worms I got Tiki are very teeny tiny, so they'll be fine.

I heard waxworms are very tasty for dragons and fattening - I need fattening! Little girl needs to gain some weight.

Butterworms are good fatteners too, if you can find those. Just use any of the fatty ones in moderation as too many can lead to some sort of liver issue that my vet advised me on when I started feeding supers, which are also fattening. I wish I could remember what he called it...

Yeah I have to order online for pretty much any feeders for my beardie. I am thinking of getting a second beardie in December then I can justify bigger orders with my husband lol.
