how close is too close for UVB

my reptisun tube is now placed about 5 inches from my bd's fav spot. Is that too close? He has been a little inactive, so I moved it from 12 inches to 5 inches.

Reptisun tubes should be between 6-8 inches from the dragon. At 12 inches it was a bit too far, so hopefully he will perk up now that he is closer.

he seems to like it, but I don't want to burn his little eyes! He seems to be regulating though...here is a pic

He moves from the outside edge of the rock to right up close to the UVB. RIght now he is about 6 inches from it.

If his white light is on and is bright that is next to it, I think he is fine.

Yes, the white light is on and hottest spot in 109. Thanks for the help. I just adore him! He is becoming a bit spoiled though and prefers I take him out and put him to sleep everynight. Another beardie slave joins the forces! :lol:
