Please advise! What is happening to our schools pet bearded dragon?!? These growths have been there for at least 6 months.

I don't know what exactly this is, but it is not normal - this is not shedding or such. And to me it also looks too severe to be just treated by change in diet or light or such.
With that I would make a vet appointment as soon as possible. Do you have a reptile vet? Otherwise, we can help you find one, there is a database for that.

However, in addition, the condition might be caused or made more severe by diet and/or the light conditions. Despite improving them would not heal that, I think it would make sense to look though them too. Which kind of lights are you use?

Aw, poor beardie, I bet the kids are very worried ! This will need a vet visit ASAP, could be a fungal growth, some type of cyst or even tumors [ most unlikely. ]
Another problem is that the beardie is obese , this will affect all aspects of it's life. Can you show a pic of the enclosure, the lights and list of what you feed him/her ?
