THis is from that page:

Okay, I have my roach house and my roaches-What do I feed them?
This is another one that there are as many choices as there are keepers, probably even more! Most people have crushed cat food as the main ingredient in their chow, though. All I can really tell you for this topic is what I use. I do two parts cat food, one and a half parts dog food, half a part fish food of some sort, half a part sugar. My buggies seem to like it. If the males' wings start looking beat up, I add more fish or cat food to up the protein.

WHile this sounds great, Ive found it helps tremendously to add in a sliced up orange. make sure it is isolated so it doesnt get stuff wet that should be, but it sped up the molting process on many of my nymphs

nearly, but one biggie i know of is you want to put a rim of tape, and probably vasolene around the top of the bin. I think the humidity and heating reqs are within the same ranges. Although they are not as huge on the oranges- i have yet to find their sweet of choice

I hear Robyn from Proexotics said the lobster roaches are the easiest to grow...but they can climb glass and other smooth surfaces. That's the only the only downside to the lobster. The good thing is: they are smaller and much softer than the dubias.

I am speaking as a mother only... I have not seen Turkish roaches but my husband has recently started a dubia colony. My 2nd biggest freak out is roaches the 1st being spiders. I know that the dubia are considered "slow" but to me they move pretty fast! I am dealing with it way better than I thought I would (I can even get touch them without 'visibly' freaking out ) But just the idea that the Turkish ones are faster makes me cringe and I don't think I could handle a faster roach. Or one that actually 'looked more like a roach'. I only say these things because I am a mom and your mom is already hesitant to agree to the dubias. Ultimately the decision will be yours, this is just something to take into consideration.

She hates the idea of having any but she said as long as she dont have to look or touch them the turks are fine.

i live with grandparents so some what in the same boat as you, they wernt to keen on me getting a beardy. Im breeding dubia's now and i refuse to even tell them because i know they would literally kill me in my sleep. but best decision i made :) my lil guys love sthem and hes only 6 inches or so. and since they're so meaty he only needs to eat like 2 and be full :) he liked the freshly molted ones

it was awsome yesterday my mom reached into the tub and picked out roachs because i wasent home and her baby chameleon needed it live feeders. we have to pick out the small ones because it mostly large roachs. i may have my first egg sack could someone post a picture so i can be sure? it looks like a mini kidney bean. the roachs are molting and growing bigger too. im so happy. i told my cousin that i was happy that the roachs were getting bigger and he gave me a weird look and told me i was probly the only person in the family happy to have roachs in my house. the rest of my family doesnt really care that i have roachs in my house they said that they just accepted the fact that im werid and will buy or try anything for animals.

Do you have Dubias? IF you do they lay their eggs in an eggsack. they never drop the egg sack though.. once they are done they will pull it back into their abdomen for a month to incubate, once that is done and the egg hatch inside the mom she will then give live birth.

Here is a link that shows pics. There are probably a lot more on here if searched hard enough :) If the eggsac has been dropped and just laying there on the ground or something its gone :( Also make sure you have a breeding tub and one for feeders, it makes it alot more easy. If you disturb a female while shes laying the eggs in the eggsac the stress might cause her to drop it and the eggs would then not incubate or hatch. Its not necessary but i find it easier to get the size i need without all the adults running around like maniacs :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
