Do larger fixtures create higher temperatures? And what size do you think is sufficient for a 40 gal breeder? Thanks!

The light is what creates the heat! If you get one that has the ceramic on it they tend to hold heat better and longer! Also what type of bulb are you going to be running? Just make sure the fixture is going to hold the wattage of the bulb! Good luck just my 2cents!!

I understand the light creates the heat, but I am just curious if a large fixture can raise the temperatures because it spreads the light out more. I have a zoo med 100w basking bulb.

If the basking bulb is a tight beam then no! If it is regular basking bulb that throws light everywhere then yes! Hope this helps!! Good luck... :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
