Hello,

Sorry to hear that Cinnamon is still having a hard time right now. How much oral fluids are you getting into him? Be sure to get enough into him.
Have you double checked your temps too, are they all correct?
Continue with the bathing, that really does help with hydration status along with using a plastic dropper to drip fluids onto the end of his nose if he will lick it off. It does take time & patience when trying to teach them to take fluids from a dropper, but, it can be done. If you just get the end of his mouth slightly open to where he is kind of licking his lips you can drip some fluids onto his nose & he will most likely start drinking a little bit.
It just takes some practice. Usually once they get a small taste of food or fluids, they will like it.

Used to, whenever he had a bath I could drip water on his nose and he would drink. I still do it every time I bathe him but he won't lick it off any more. Nor will he take food off his nose. I do think he drank a few sips today in the tub though. Getting the end of his mouth open is the problem. I can get the syringe into the side of his mouth and work it to the tip but he has his teeth clamped shut like you wouldn't believe. That's why it's so difficult to feed him. His urates aren't white, they're just runny with a little bit of poo. I haven't checked the temps on his basking branch for a couple of days. I'll do that again but he's asleep on it and I hate to bother him. I did just put a stronger light in there 2 days ago. At that time it was 110 on his branch. Still trying everything.

On the fluids you can dilute some 100% pure juice with water sometimes that will get them to drink.I am very sorry you have not had a better result yet.

Thank you all for all of your help and concern. Poor little thing. I just hope he makes it. I'll try some juice. Maybe he'll like that. I'm getting so depressed worrying about him.

OH NO! Suddenly Cinnamon can't move his hind leg. He's going to the vet today at 3:00. My poor baby.

Thank you all so much for your concerns. It makes me feel that I'm not alone in this. The vet took x-rays and did a blood test. He has no broken bones and she even said that his bones look good. She said he still does have some MBD because his lower lips are "mushy." She put him on Metacam to see if it will help his leg and also I got another bottle of NeoCalcium Gluconate and more Carnivore Care. I told her I've been giving him Benebac and she said that's fine. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the name of Jump Start (my mind's gone).

She did say that some dragons will eventually start eating again and that other's have to be fed "till the end of time." At least I have him home. I was so afraid that I wouldn't.

hello msmaui,

How is cinnamon today? can he move his leg yet? Have you gotten any food into him? Let's just pray that our dragons will start eating on their own someday soon. I understand what you're going through. We've been hand feeding them for almost a month...they should be getting hungry by now!! Let's think positive!! Tomorrow's the day!!!

Hello,

Well, I am glad that Cinnamon is doing ok. The metacam should really help with the inflammation on the leg area. It is probably sore from being weakened due to low calcium.
Definitely continue with the Neocalcium gluconate & the carnivore care. He should really start feeling better soon.
Continue with the benebac because he is on the Metacam. How is his appetite?

Keep us posted.

I know. It's awful. Well, it wasn't today. Maybe Thursday! It sure seems like a lot of dragons get to where they won't eat. I think ours are extreme though!

Hi, Tracie.

Cinnamon wouldn't walk on his leg today but, instead of just dragging it limply like he was, he's holding it stiff but more up against his body in a more normal position. I will continue with the Benebac. His appetite is still the same--nonexistent. I sure hope he starts getting better soon.

Tracie,

Since the Metacam is not an antibiotic, am I still supposed to keep him on the Benebac?

Hello,

Well, it is an anti-inflammatory, but, it would still be a good idea to continue with the probiotics anyway. Sometimes those medications, whether they are an antibiotic or not, can still wreak some havoc on their GI tract.
Besides, the probiotics definitely wont hurt Cinnamon. I hope things are going better today.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
