That would require significant change to the forum software, I think. It would also be kind of obnoxious for those who don't want to chat, to have a big space on the page always given to the chat. It really needs to be a place people go to. Otherwise, it's not much different than an Off Topic chat thread.

Oh, gotcha. I didn't kow if there was a way to just have it like on facebook how they have their chat set up to where you can see who's online if you click the bar or whatever.

Ahhh... no... definitely nothing like that. That's a lot of modification to the forum software we use. Maybe in a future update of phpBB (the software), but probably not anytime soon.

How about a chat box that was constantly at the top of the page? That is what they have on another forum I'm on, and you can't help but read it when you look through posts.

I have never seen this but sounds neat. I'm thinking of something you would see for the NYSE or sports center at the bottom with all the stock or scores. As far as the specific time if it was worth it we could do maybe have a few "experts" on and have a certain night be a topic of one. I think it would be neat but as it was said I don't see using it if no one is in there most of the time.

More importantly, to me, is that is looks like it has a collapsible option, so it can be clicked to not take up space for those not wanting it. But unfortunately, that's an entirely different forum software (I recognize it, but don't recall the name). And it would be a major plugin on these forums that I'm averse to. Plugins with the software we use make continued maintenance much more of a pain. That's more of a reason to have it as a separate page than any other, until it's supported as part of the basic build of the forums.

I think it would be better plus i myself is on here all the time and reading thru posts and waiting on replies is annoying especially when i use my phone and all the alerts are sent to my email and it sounds like darth vaders light sabor non-stop lol... I ran a form for veiltail bettas with my co-breeder and it worked and we never had to make no adjustments at all just put a button or link and it would open up a new window for the chat... there are alot of free chatroom creators online and some are very simple to use...

Anyway, there is a fish forum i am on and it has a chat pop up window, i loved it! it was nice being able to talk in real time, but unfortunately you are right. Once the novelty wears off no one comes in
