I have a 2 yr old male beardie and I am going to get another beardie from petsmart and I wanted to know if I could put them together. Is it safe?

No, I would avoid putting them in the same enclosure or even letting them go near eachother without close supervision. They are solitary animals and can get pretty nasty toward eachother. If you get a second dragon, you'll want to put together a second enclosure and plan on keeping their routines separate for the most part.

I agree, new dragons should stay separate.
However, we have had four dragons share a cage for over three years now. At first we closely supervised for months. But it was obvious they were ok with each other's presence. The older two have been breeding together for years, and the younger two are siblings. We have posted pics on G+ for years of the four basking together, eating together, sleeping together and playing together.

The cage is in a very public room and all household members keep an eye on the group. We understand this is NOT normal nor ideal, however we have come to know our beardies very well and this arrangement seems to work.

for the most part everyone says it's best to keep dragons apart. I have read time and time again horror stories about dragons kept together.
