Can a Bearded Dragon get hiccups???

Max won't stop hiccuping!i have videos but don't know how to post them here.

I have heard of them getting hiccups. Did he maybe eat or drink too fast? Does he seem stressed by it?

No, he doesn't but it's like his whole body convulses with each hiccup. His little mouth opens and a puff of air comes out. He tried to cuddle with me around my neck and I could feel and hear it.

How long has it been going on? Did it start after he ate or drank? You could post a video on utube then put the link here.

I was writing the same time as Diamc. He may have aspirated water or be developing a respiratory infection. Sometimes if they aspirate water they cough/hiccup for a while and then it's over.

It started almost immediately after he quickly ate three silk worms for the first time.

Thanks for posting the video. It doesn't seem to be continual. Perhaps he ate them too fast and didn't chew them sufficiently. Maybe see if he will drink a few drops of water off his nose. Please keep us updated.

I immediately gave him a bath and tried to give him some water to ease him and see if it would help. He didn't hiccup at all in the bath, but started again about 10 minutes after his bath. He's sleeping now, so he's not doing it, but keep you updated. Thank ya'll so much for the help. I appreciate it more than you know.

If he had been drinking and then it started, I would tend to think he aspirated some water. And since this is the 1st he's done it after eating the silkworms quickly, it seems like he ate them too fast, not chewing them good or one went down the wrong way like happens with us humans when eating sometimes.

Good that he's sleeping now. Just keep an eye on him to make sure he's not developing a URI but I think all is fine.

He hasn't done it once today! Someone left a comment on my YouTube video saying they thought it was a respiratory infection, though, so that makes me nervous. But Max seems alright today, thank you for asking

That's great he is fine today. I had mentioned a URI too in one of my posts above BUT since he hadn't acted that way until quickly eating the silkworms and he is good now, all should be fine. I have heard of other beardies doing the same thing from drinking or eating too fast also.

You might want to think about reposting an update on youtube that all is good now and that he had never acted like that prior to eating the worms so others can read it.

Ahh yes, I see that you did mentioned the infection in your previous comment. I'm so thankful I found this website and that people like you are willing to help. Max is the very first reptile I've had, so I'm constantly learning new things and trying to educate myself on everything Bearded Dragons. I don't know anyone who has a dragon who I can talk to or get advice from. I love Max so much and just want him to be okay. Good advice on updating the video. I edited the video like you suggested. I only posted it to show you guys and Max's vet, so I'll probably delete it, but I don't want people worrying about him until then.
