Brumation

At what age does Brumation start? My beardie is about 12 months, he hasn't been eating much lately and now all he wants to do is sleep. Is that Brumation ?

It could be. Is he pretty large ? What are the temps. in the tank and what exact type + brand lights do you have ? Does he sleep all day in one spot ?

He's 400g and 17 inches long.
I have the t8 uvb 24inch and a basking lamp 100w. I got a new cage about a month ago and since then he doesn't like to bask! Keeps on sitting in the cooler side and when I pick him up he is barely warm. Today at 1pm he turned into a corner and was sleeping. He moves around but mostly it looks like he's trying to hide in the shade...His viv is 4ft long and 2ft high
I had a basking light 75w and it seemed not hot enough, with 150w it was too hot, so I settled on 100w

It may just be a little brumation phase that will last a month or so. As long as he doesn't look ill or losing weight he should be fine.

He's also keep sitting with his mouth open, but he's barely warm, how could he be hot?

Following this thread because my beardie is acting similarly.

Not eating, spending less than an hour in the basking spot and preferring to be in the shady corner. He also doesn't really feel warm to me.

I think it could be Brumation because today he stayed in his hide all day and eyes were half open. Is it normal for them to start to brumate in spring?
