Well your looking at a Pogona barbata whoch is the eastern bearded dragon. And although know for the ark pigmetn most are actually in color. There a a few people that breed them and sell them on classified sites but there are not too many around. I know annapolis bearded dragons is working on an all black beardie. The challenge is almost all bearded dragons have had color bred into them.

So would the eastern dragon be compatable with ours...Pogona vitticeps? Just curious your opinion if they are cross breedable maybe?

that is unknown. it is speculated that the German Giant Morph may have been the result of a barbata and vitticeps being crossed but either way it is pretty much impossible to get one in the US legally. they were not exported the way the vitticeps was and since the borders are closed for Australia there is no way to legally get one imported.

P.vitticeps and P.barbata can breed and natural intergrades have been found where the teritory overlaps. The pic as stated is defitely a barbata going by the yellow insides of the mouth rather than the pink P.vitticeps.

Yea i read that they're habitats to overlap and it has been found that cross breeding has most likely occurred. As for my typo's** I was saying that although they are know for they're dark pigment most are actual yellow in color.

So i honestly can't get this beardie out of my head...i like the all blackness. Does anyone know a site with the export laws for reptiles? I tried googling and couldnt find anything. Or if anyone knows of a breeder in the states. Any help or info would be appreciated. Thanks :study:

There isnt anyone that breeds Barbata in the states (to my knowledge). I do not have a link to the Export laws for Australia but it shouldnt be too hard to find. I will tell ya the borders have been closed there for exportation of any local wildlife for many decades. Not to mention if you happened to find one in the European continent the importation fees and paperwork alone would murder you with time and money. i say just get a nice dark dragon here. Look at bloodbanks page they have a number of black and orange dragons that are beautiful.

I like the blood bank ones, they are nice...but i just am fascinated by the all blackness. I wonder if the export ban is on wild caught, or includes captive bred?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
