My 6 month old male had the blackest beard today but no stress marks. It went away after his bath.
He and my female are in separate vivs but can see each other.
@ 6 months could that be a sign that he is a little Randy?
Yes, he's found out what a wonderful thing a black beard can be. Sometimes the black goes down their bellys, too. Our oldest beardie Lonzo, he's 8 yrs old, his black beard goes down to his knees, not kidding. It's a paler black, more dark grey but I have a pic that shows it. If I can find it I'll post it for you.
Rubio, our youngest dragon (we have 4 & are fostering a fifth) figured out his black beard at 5 mo old. He was so funny, he'd almost go cross-eyed to get it big. Leo, our 4 yr old, black beards all day & includes stamping and bobbing. Your baby is now a juvenile and you can expect more of the same. Your female will also start arm-waving or low bobbing, depending on her age & interest. It's an interesting time, watching your beardie do different things.
Thanks Deb!
The female is 7 months and was arm waving today. I hadn't seen her do that since she was 3 months old.
So the black beard is positively not health related?
Well a black beard can be a hormonal sign or could be related to health issues. Just keep an eye on him and if you see anything out of the ordinary(other than the hormonal behavior), then you can report back.
