I’m not familiar with mealworm beetles but I used to have a rhinoceros beetle, it ate fruits and leaf litter. It may apply to those as well.Im starting a mealworm farm and i just had three pupas turn into beetles what are the best things to feed them? If anyone has a list of things ? Other then like carrots and potatoes
By leaf litter I meant the dry leaves from outside, but they will most likely eat greens such as lettuce. You can do a trial and error with greens if you want but honestly they eat anything!Leaf litter so like any lettues kale would they eat like oregano fresh or like basil? Or do i just give it and see?
I left plenty with it, it ate what it wanted and I replaced it when necessary. I don’t know if this applies for mealworms though, give them some and if they eat it all give them more.Okay good to know how much do beetles tend to consume? Are they always eating like some bugs or not so much?
Thank youCarrots + potatoes are main staples with oatmeal or bran as substrate. They can eat many types of fruits +veggies but I avoid the softer stuff that can get moldy quickly. Apple is O.K, cauliflower leaf + stalk, raw green bean are a few.
