You haft to go by surface basking temps-- if that is what your talking about-- you don't want the basking bulb any closer than 6 inches

No he won't - they will move out of it -- please get the distance as posted unobstructed - this is crucial -

It looks like in your photos baby is on the coolside of the tank. Does he bask? That's a big tank for a little guy I'm wondering if he's able to find the temps he needs.

The advice you got on the uvb is good. It's important he can get 12-15in from your uvb

Yeah he basks a lot he stays on his warm side 90% of the day so is it possible he got sick cause I gave him meal worms? I saw a lot of chitten in his poop or vomit

I think it likely at least contributed. Mealworms have a lot of chitin and little guys have more delicate stomachs. They are also high in fat content so need to be moderated regardless. For example my guy is 14in and just started on superworms (less but tougher chitin than a mealworm). He only gets 1-3 at a time and some people advice to wait even longer before letting them have those kinds of feeders.

I fed mine mostly Dubai and some crickets at that age. Don't let crickets escape in the cage if you use them they have the potential to bite. I would give the mealworms a break at least for a couple weeks until he gets a bit bigger then try one small mealworm and see if you have any issues. Make sure whatever you are feeding fits within the space between his eyes, or he may choke or suffer an impaction. BSFL are another good feeder especially for little guys. They are small, soft, good protein and very high calcium.


Make sure he stays hydrated. The loose poo will have taken extra water from him, and hydration will help him digest properly the next time. you can drip water on his nose, mist his greens, and even mist his bugs if nothing else is working.

Use them on his salads -- they make great lures to the salad bowl and are another staple feeder- you can supplement them to the other main staple feeder

I have had 7 beardies total, of the 7 exactly 7 were shy about me seeing them eat their greens. It's funny, they will snatch bugs right out of my hand and then literally turn and move away from their greens if I'm watching them eat.
Anyone else seen this happen? (Most of them will eat some greens if i hand feed them)

yeah im just most confused cause my guy was eating bugs infront of me but now hes shy he saw a lot of people on easter i wonder if it freaked him out oh also i did see him nibble some greens
