OK Smart (edit)! SOON! Pics SOON!
We had strong storms move thru last night. Electric was out from about 9:30 till just after 7 am this am. (Thank God for the laptop!) Last night at one point we saw reports on the the news websites as we were tracking the storm that there was a confirmed touch down of a small funnel, this morning they are saying possibly just really strong/high winds. Our local post office took a minor hit...blew the A/C off the roof, damaged 10 postal trucks, flipped one. Lots of downed trees on one side of town (we live on the south end). My sons friends' garage was heavily damaged, another family's van was buried with huge tree limbs. Lot's of flash flooding and the rain was in sheets-couldn't see to drive. We stayed in the apt, had the kids in their carriers and the carriers in the bathroom(safest place in the apt). We couldn't head towards my husbands uncles' house as that was the direction the storm was coming from. Assassin was the only one not in a carrier, big baby was clinging to me for dear life! Big chicken! After the storms passed, it took quite a while to get him settled down-he kept roaming his viv and wouldn't park himself anywhere. Had to sit with him on my shoulder for about an hour, then put him in the viv and he finally settled. The town of Eagle, about 20 miles or so West/S. West of us got hit pretty hard, and they are pretty sure it was a tornado. 50 houses damaged, some totaled. Only 1 injury reported. The local news stations are waiting for the National Weather Service to confirm the tornado in Eagle and whether or not here in Muskego if it was just strong/high winds or a small tornado touchdown. If it was a small tornado, then it was only quick touchdowns, and didn't track far on the ground.
All in all, it was a LOOONG night! But, it could have been far worse- I lived in KS for 16 years and we saw much worse there than I've ever seen here in the last 10 years. Thank God for that! I don't miss Kansas storms at all!
Here shortly, I'm gonna take my camera and run over by Janesville rd/woods rd and see if I can get some pics. For now, here's a link to a local weather station with some pics and info on the site:
