Angie, Loki, Laura & Dozer (new pics 03/29/15)

I wanted to introduce everyone to our new girl. She is on her way now from Denver, CO. I will post some new pictures tomorrow but these are the ones we have so far. She is part leatherback.

Thanks Deb. I think she looks more relaxed in her eyes especially. Paul trimmed some of her toenails last night and she sat completely still. Tomorrow will be an adjustment for her since I will be going back to work but will give her a quick bath in the morning as that is what she is used to. Josh will be busy with keeping 3 beardies occupied & entertained. :lol: Will make good use of the Harry Potter CD's and I will turn it on for the girls before I leave her tomorrow morning, have that all planned out already.

Well, I learned something today. Don't put very much sweet potato baby food on top of Laura's greens. When I came home today, she had sweet potato from one end of her tank to the other with greens stuck to it. It took me a good 15 minutes to clean it up after spraying the tiles several times with water and wiping/scraping it up. She was a busy girl, even had some on the glass & on her log. It looked like she may have eaten a little of the squash & greens though, sure was hard to tell. :roll:

Her previous owner used to do this to entice her to eat her greens so I did it yesterday but it looked untouched. So, I decided to plop some sweet potato on today. Lesson learned, don't add much! :lol: When I came home, she looked a little guilty laying on her log, she looked at me and rolled her eyes down to the mess she made. She laid on my chest while I cleaned it up with one hand with the other holding her secure so I could bend over her tank at the same time.

Angie was watching me with a smile on her face the whole time. :mrgreen: And, I thought Angie used to make a mess of her greens while glass dancing, not like this little lady. :laughing6:

Oh my, what a mess to come home to, guess you'll leave the baby food topping for when you're home, then you can check on her. I'm glad you snuggled her while cleaning, that told her she wasn't in trouble. But the guilty look must have been so funny to see "I'm sorry Mom, I didn't mean to make such a mess, it just got away from me" :lol:

I can only imagine the look on Laura's face when you were surveying the blowout in her tank. Trying to clean up dried baby food is like trying to remove old caulk.

I wonder if the reason why Angie was smiling at you while you were cleaning Laura's house was because she remembered the days when she did the same, that there is now someone else just like her.

The look on Laura's face was priceless although she looked like she felt bad about the whole thing. Sure hope she never poop paints to this extreme. :roll: :shock: Yes, I was petting her with one hand & scrubbing with the other while telling her (trying to convince her) that it was ok that she had made such a mess. :-|

That's very possible Gina. I always asked Angie how on earth she could scatter greens from one end of her tank to the other but I guess that was mild compared to the gross looking & stuck on baby food & greens. I was surprised that the sweet potato didn't stain the tiles but I managed (after a while) to get it all off.

Today I put a little bit of sweet potato on her greens but it was untouched. Guess she didn't dare go near it today. But, she ate a lot of crickets to make up for it, 13 out of my fingers this am and another 20 this afternoon. We're gonna pick up some mixed berries that she used to eat previously, see how much of a smeared mess she can make with those. :roll: Will let you know how that turns out. :lol:

Glad she's eating so well for you. Maybe she just wants her greens plain, then she'll eat them. You could try to see if that's the case.

I'm sure Angie was snickering the whole time. Maybe she was hoping I'd get the vacuum cleaner out as she sure loves watching me use that. But no Angie, a vacuum won't clean up dried on sweet potato & greens. :lol:

Deb, I had tried plain greens previously but Laura showed no interest at all. BUT, today they all got a good sized amount of greens and they ALL ate most of them. Go figure..........and they were all the same ones they had had all wk.

Well, late this afternoon, I thought I would introduce Laura to Angie. I laid Angie down on the carpet, Laura was already out & about. All of the sudden, Laura spotted her, started head bobbing, jerking her body forward, foot stomping and ran as fast as she could toward Angie. I didn't want her to bite her so I picked Angie up. Paul heard the commotion & had been holding Loki. He laid him down on the carpet & Laura did the same thing to him, acted like she was gonna charge at him while foot stomping. Paul had a moccasin on his foot so he quickly raised it up to her opened mouth just before she got to Loki. What the heck?!?! Angie didn't seem too fazed, just looked at her. Loki's eyes were huge. Laura's coloring got even more red when she acted this way, including her beard, no darkness to it whatsoever. I do remember Misty acting similar when I introduced her to either Gizmo or Judas, but all she did was a light headbutt to the belly. Angie & Loki are so laid back that I certainly didn't want any injuries to occur so will wait for a while before considering trying again. Guess beardies don't notice size differences and it was obvious that Laura wasn't afraid at all! What a stinker! :shock: :roll:
