I wanted to introduce everyone to our new girl. She is on her way now from Denver, CO. Here's the tracking # if anyone wants to follow her flight: http://www.ups.com/WebTracking/processInputRequest?loc=en_US&Requester=NOT&tracknum=1Z6ET1020195023418&AgreeToTermsAndConditions=yes We have chosen the name Angeline (Angie for short) which means "messenger of God." I will post some new pictures tomorrow but these are the ones we have so far. She is part leatherback.

Here she is when Laszlo brought her home from the pet store on Feb 17th, 2012.

Yes, Diane, I noticed you all had temps like we usually have. I can only imagine how your normal humidity makes the heat soo much worse. It's different here, when we have the temps we are now having (high 90's to low 100's) the humidity is in the 20's, maybe. You have humidity in the high 80'. I know how miserable it is here when the temps are 72 and the humidity is 30+. It's not hot enough to use the air conditioner yet it feels soo stuffy and humid, like we are breathing water instead of air.

I'm glad I was right about Angeline, I figured that she wouldn't be the dragon the other lady thought she was. She just needed some people who told her she was beautiful, loving and let her know (actions more than words) that she was loved. That's what she needed.

It feels tropical outside. The humidity is so heavy that it's hard to breathe. As much as I miss little Gizmo, I'm glad that he's not here right now because he had a real hard time with humid weather. We have the AC in the livingroom set at 67 right now and it's 76 in that room so the AC can't keep up. You're right, the high temps don't seem so bad without the high humidity.

I was very surprised when I opened the box and saw her bright coloring, I really didn't expect that. Can't wait to see the top of her head when she sheds that, looks like it won't be too much longer. She is very loved and we are making sure that she knows it. :D

It sort of reminds me of Miss O. We found out within one month that she craved human love. It was a requirement for her to be loved. She fit in here just right as she found out within that first month that we loved her.

Well we finally had sun today, it's been a month of almost winter weather over here, very unusal for this time of year, so hoping this trend continues. Diane, I'm sorry about the heat wave you guys are getting, I don't miss it at all. When I lived in Montreal, we'd have this weather almost all summer & sometimes in the spring, too. I loved Vancouver just because of the lack of humidity & how it never really gets hot here, just a day here & there in the summer. But just this bit of heat has the temp in the living room at 26C, which is really hot for me, so all the windows are opened now & hoping it will cool off. Rocco is really liking it, he likes heat, being a gecko. I'm not sure how the others fared during the day, so I'm glad Jake comes in to turn them all off at 5p.

Give Angeline a bit hug for me, she's such a cutie pie & I'm so glad she's fitting in so well :D

I just found this picture of when Laszlo 1st got her on Feb 17th so I'm gonna guess she was only about 5 days old. I'm picking her birthday of Feb 14th, figured Valentine's Day was a good choice (thanks for the suggestion Michele). Look how tiny she was! Just look at those little legs.

Boy, she was teny tiny, here it is just about 4 months later and she's gotten huge, well, compared to that pic. She must be a curious little girl, she's looking up at him, not afraid at all. I wish I could give her some snuggles, well I'll go give Goldie some snuggles, Bill said she wanted to snuggle on his shoulder so I'll go give her some snuggles, but I'll have to cover her eyes so she won't try to crawl away to hide her eyes.

You're right, she sure was tiny. I guess he had trouble getting her to eat in the beginning, she sure eats a lot now. The hornworms came in and Josh said she didn't even hesitate, just grabbed the 1st one then ate 3 more small ones. :D

She looks small to me for 4 mo but that could be because I'm used to seeing big adults. I'll give her some snuggles for you tomorrow Lori. :p Yes, you go snuggle with Goldie, I know you both like that.

When you have a minute Diane, you should give us a length & weight as I'm sure she's gained in length & weight. Oh my, she was teeny when he got her, how did he get her at 5 days old? I'm glad he finally got her eating & that she's eating now & hornworms, good going Angie!
Hugs

We measured her yesterday Deb and she is 12 1/2", haven't gotten a wt yet though. She is really growing, before she looked so small in the 40 gallon breeder but not you can even see that her head is wider from a distance. Her head hasn't shed yet and it is very dull so it won't be long.

Last night we had no cable so we had the radio on when she was taking her bath. We couldn't figure out why she was jerking her head back & forth then finally realized that she couldn't figure out where the sounds were coming from because there wasn't a picture on the TV screen. She had been moving her head by looking toward the TV and then the radio. Sure didn't take her long to figure out something was different. Today when she took her bath, she sat there listening and watching TV and didn't do that same head movement again. I knew she didn't miss much but found that to be very clever of her.

Today she leaned toward Paul when I was holding her and climbed up his arm & sat there for quite a while, just as calm as could be. This afternoon she enjoyed running around on the couch so she has definitely gotten settled in.

I will try to post some pics later.

Smart girl! Glad she likes music & watching TV, it will keep her occupied when she's alone. My gang love TV, I don't have a radio in the living room, but one day will have a CD player again, I had to throw the old one out & it's not on the list yet to replace. I can listen to music on the digital in the bedroom & Gabriel enjoys that, but he also likes to hear kids voices on cartoons.

I'll be looking forward to more pictures of your beautiful princess!

Wow, that's amazing that she knew something was wrong with the TV. What a smart girl!

Look how dull her head is. Anxious to see it when the shed is done there.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
