40 gal tank for a baby?

I am getting a baby beardie soon from Petsmart and was wondering if I could go ahead and put him in a 40 gallon tank? If not, could i just split the 40 gal until he gets bigger?

I always put my babies in a 40 g. If yours gets stressed you could consider splitting it.

What do you use to split a tank? I've been doing so much research I feel like my head is going to explode...but the one thing I can't decide on is the size of tank to start with. It would be nice not to have to go through the trouble of selling/buying another tank in 6 months.

I was thinking to split it with cardboard. I saw that on a couple of threads

I bought a 40 gallon, my plan is to not buy 2 tanks, so just split it with cardboard if he/she stresses out.
