I'm using a digital thermometer and I'm putting the probe under the basking spot, which is about 5 inches away from the CHE itself. Right next to the CHE I have a 40 watt heat lamp I got from the hardware store, no light, just heat. For UV I have Reptisun 10.0 in a 16 inch fixture.

Try switching to a less expensive feeder like crickets. Alternatively, try to get your dragons to eat more greens and maybe some of the dry food they sell, which should last longer and be cheaper overall.

Try thinking outside of the box, or in this case the enclosure. Lower the thermostat on the refrigerator, lower brightness on TVs and computers. Is the room their inside unusally cold? The tanks could be losing overall temps because the room is cold. Also, out here where I'm from, we have the...

Perhaps switching to a low wattage bulb? If this isn't possible, try putting some decorations that will provide a type of shade for your beardie. -Just some ideas

It might be too hot for him, but I doubt that this is the issue. Maybe there's something outside of his tank that is scaring him? Like a new piece of furniture or something.
