For my normal week to week cleaning I use white vinegar mixed with water (50/50) in a spray bottle then rinse/wipe twice and make sure I can't smell anything. Then air it out 10 minutes more to be safe.

6-8'' is the recommended distance from the UVB bulb, so you are fine. That said I have seen pics on beardies that received too much UVB. I believe the last instance involved someone that had multiple bulbs in their enclosure.

I skipped it because I prefer the front opening cages. That said, $75 is a great price and it's a good cage. Cheapest I was able to get a regular 40 breeder was $100 plus the cost of the screen top (about $135 total with tax) at the time I was looking.

If you are mounting the light inside the tank you'll want the 24'', as 40 breeder tanks are only 36'' long. Either would work on top of the screen.
