What makes your bearded dragon unique?

Spike has discovered he likes my head, so when I'm laying down he'll walk over and plant himself over half my face. Once he's settled he won't be moved. He'll either puff up and gape or gouge me with his spikes. He gets really over excited when he eats, but he still seems to take the position...

    Beardie out more than in?

For the record, Knecko is the BEST name for a beardie. 'It's not a Gecko' is my most used phrase when I take Spike anywhere. That sun table is an awesome idea, Spike spends all of his time in my windowsill. It looks onto a busy square so there are always loads of cars and people. If he...

    Jumping!?!?

I'm sure I read somewhere they have no depth perception. Spike doesn't jump, he just walks off the edge of things and assumes I'll catch him.

    Bit me!

I'm guessing a sperm plug could make a dragon cranky right? I gave him a bath earlier and there it was. He seems more lively now too.

    My neck.

Beardies can be pretty damn smart, and they put it to use use sometimes too. Every time Spike is out, he gets somewhere I thought I'd blocked off well. I always sit with my arm resting on the side of my couch, and he sits on my arm with his nose in my ear. Scares the crap outta me when he snorts.

    Bit me!

I was told he's about 4, but they didn't even give the poor guy a name, so who knows really. I'd guess he's about 17 inches now. He knows the difference between food and fingers, because I hand feed him often, without a single bite.

    Bit me!

It's certainly possible, but I've always stroked his beard and all over his head really. The worst I ever get from him is squirming or shying away. He's not shedding, though I wish he would, 'cause he's stained red all over from the sand his old owner had him on. He also head bobbed for the...

    Bit me!

And I have NO idea what for. He was sat on my leg (like he had been for an hour) while we were watching tv, and I was stroking his beard like always. Next thing I know, he's biting me and visibly putting quite some beardie strength into it. Then he let go and looked at me like 'What, I shouldn't...

    Stressed Beardie Mom RANT

They do keep you on your toes don't they! I have the tamest beardie, yet I woke him up today like always and he does the full hissing/pancaking/gaping thing at me. He's calmed down and eaten now, and I'm still none the wiser! He is a fussy eater too, only eats locusts, waxworms and salad...

    Substrate (or lack of)

I'm not thinking of leaving him like this indefinately, it's on my 'urgent' list of things to do but it's then end of my pay month and we all know how that feels! Does anyone have suggestions on what i can seal the tiles into the tank with, so when he poops it doesn't go through the cracks?

    Substrate (or lack of)

Is it ok to not use substrate and just leave the bottom of the tank bare wood? Spike's taken a liking to the taste of his repticarpet so I've taken it out, but it'll be a day or 3 until I can get something else he'll not be able to eat! I'm thinking slate tiles, cause his claws are starting to...

    Beardie out more than in?

Spike seems to know exactly when I'm home, because only then does he destroy his viv, gets salad everywhere and if I ignore all that, he just poops in his water dish. He also refuses to go to bed until he's fallen asleep on me, latched on like a barnacle then has a scared dash to my shoulder...

    Dangerous food?

Are there any kind of bugs you can give other reptiles that are dangerous for beardies apart from lightning bugs? I'm just wondering what kind of different things I can get him, because he refuses crickets and only eats locusts and greens. I want to see him take on an armoured cricket, but...

    Beardie out more than in?

Anyone have thier beardie out pretty much all the time? If Spike's not out he finds a corner of the viv and sulks until I feel guilty enough to bring him out again. He seems to like being out with me, my arm is cramped because he's fallen asleep on it.

    Well...So much for laying down...

My morning routine involves cleaning Spike's HUGE basking rock off, because he'll poo on it the second he is warm enough. I suspect this is my own fault for feeding him right afterwards, but he loves hunting locusts around the living room and he's NOT pooing on the carpet!

    Still has watery eyes

You had me second-guessing myself for a second there haha. I'm ringing the vet on saturday because my rep vet treats all the wildlife park and safari animals in the area, so he's only there once a week ( :( ).

    Still has watery eyes

I should have been clearer, sorry. He's not on loose substrate, but he was when I got him and he had a coil UVB about 2/3 months ago. I got rid of the coil right away and he now has a reptisun 10.0. Temp is 95-105 depending on how warm my living room is. I did take him, but there was nothing...

    Still has watery eyes

Well Spike's eyes are watery and sticky again, it had cleared up for a while but it looks like it's back. I never figured out what was causing it in the first place. When I woke him up today he couldn't open his left eye because it was stuck together, so he spent a minute furiously rubbing his...

You know you're living with beardies when...

Haha it gets worse. You know you've lived with beardies too long when if he won't eat the last locust, you do!

You know you're living with beardies when...

When you wake up with a HUGE locust on your pillow, say 'good morning', and promptly go back to sleep.
