She ate some of her eggs/first meal after laying?

First my beardie is just over a year old and has not been with a male. She is housed in a 55 gallon tank with a repti-sun 10.0 and a GE energy revel for her basking light. Her temps are between 105-115F depending on if we have the air conditioning on in the house. She is on tile flooring and...

    Is this normal for brumation?

I am far from an expert but that sounds normal as well. It sounds like he is either toying with the idea of brumating or that is the way he is going to do it. I would let him know dinner is there but not move him. You don't want him eating dinner then going back to his hide spot and not...

    Excess superworms?

What I like to do when I end up with extra bugs is go the my local (family ran) pet store and trade some in for other supplies I need. In the last 6 months I have traded enough roaches and super worms to get a few dozen crickets, a new basking bulb and a few feeding dishes. Just talk to who ever...

    Cricket Keeper Question

I don't know if there is a difference between plastic or glass as far as better for crickets. Both setups sound like they will work though. Make sure the plastic bin has smooth sides so they can't climb them. When I but crickets they love the t.p. rolls. It is also very easy to just pick up a...

Do you guys just throw away dubias?

What I do is clean out all the easy ones then dump the rest (poo, leftover food) in a plastic shoe box, put in a small bowl of water crystals, a t.p. roll and let that sit until the next time I clean out the big bin. By that time the roaches are big enough that I can just toss them with the t.p...

    Is this normal for brumation?

Everyone is different, mine moves around and wakes up about once a week just to come out and look at me. Then back to sleep.

    how do I stop brumation?

My beardie is about 10 months old (16.5") and she started trying to bruimate about a month ago. She was nice sized and had a nice fat store on her tail base. She was waking about every fourth day to have a small snack and look at me funny then back to bed. I put a box in her tank and she has not...

    super worms keep eating eachother!

I just got an order of super worms on wed, When I opened the bags they had a few that were eaten off of. I got them cleaned out and placed in clean oatmeal and gave them a few grapes, baby carrots and some celery. I have been cleaning out the old food and replacing daily and each day I find...

    Important question about Dubia roaches

I have found a great way to feed dubia to my beradie! I had a puppy size food bowl similar to this one... http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3436969 It's great! All I have to do each morning is fill it with enough dubia to last until dinner time. The dubia can't get out...

    Breeding black soldier fly larvae

I guess you could buy some to start off. I would go with the largest size you can buy and do not keep them to cool. Here is a video I plan of following. It looks like a 55 gallon barrel with some rubber hosing split length wise and attached to the inside of the barrel. drill a hole on the side...

    Breeding black soldier fly larvae

You can find them in your compost bins. I know they are not found in all states though. I had a bail of hay that sat out in the rain for a few weeks, I went out to spread it out and it was full of larvae. I would have fed some to my beardie but the hay was molded. My yard, garden and compost is...

    Stinkin Thieves!

I don't know how fast they crawl but you could put them all in a shallow dish (pie pan?) and sit them in the front yard, then watch from the window as birds chow down. My kids love tossing hands full of bird seed out in the yard and watching the birds go crazy searching every inch of the yard. Fun!

Safe, Easy, Cheap Way To Ship Dubias?

I would literally cry, scream them cry some more if I opened a box and bugs of any kind started coming out at me. I refuse to buy crickets anymore because I can't get them from box to tank without a few escaping. You could always use a recycled container. Sour cream, butter dish, whatever.

Safe, Easy, Cheap Way To Ship Dubias?

I have never shipped dubias but last time I received some I had no DOA's so I'll explain how they were shipped. The bowl had a screen on the lid and a ring of tiny holes around the top of the bowl. The bowl was filled with egg crate pieces to the top so that they wouldn't get shaken up to much...

Questions about modification to an existing viv..

Yes, you would need plexi glass that's half as thick as the front glass so it will fit in the grooves. Not sure where you would get it though. I don't know if clear silicone calk will be good with the heat from your lights. It should be okay as long as it's for outdoor use. I use silicone tank...

shedding one body part at a time?

She loves her baths! She puffs up like a balloon and float/swims back and forth until she poos, then she just sits there and looks at me. I give her a bath about every 2-3 days. She is done shedding now and looks amazing! she has such a nice orange that looks like it will be brighter with age.
