dog got an outside lizard, not a beardie

My friend just called me to tell me her dog got to a lizard that was outside. We live in San Dieg, CA (Southern CA) and I'm assuming it's the typical lizards you see running around. Anyway her dog bit it and it's harldy moving and breathing but still alive. I had her wrap him up in a warm...

    Ants in roach bin

I found out where they were coming from. Took care of that. Are they ok to still feed? I took the crystals out, and the ants left overnight. Just worried about using them as feeders still...

    LLL Reptile

They are ok for ordering supplies, but do you really want to support a business that doesn't even use heat for their baby beardies? They could care less about anything alive, unless it's handing them money. I try everywhere else first!

Just saw a fat trail of ants going through my roach bins. Are they done for? Normal black house ants :(

    false alarm

Tracie, I missed your post somehow. Houdini did fine the next day. I believe he was just trying to swallow the water. He drank the water again a few days ago. He holds the extra water in that little pocket of skin under his beard. I call it a scarf, lol. So all he was doing was trying to swallow...

    false alarm

his breathing got back to normal. he's walking on my bed a little, and made a loud sneezing noise. i think he's back to normal. he's looking for a place to hide and go to sleep, but i'm kinda afraid to let him sleep. i'm just gonna keep an eye on him for the moment and play it by ear. he's not...

    false alarm

his breathing is slow, i think it's somewhat normal. but then he'll breathe rapidly and then stop for a few seconds. he's black bearded once, which is very unsual. his beard is out midway, and it's been either like that or fully out.

    humidity and temp dangerously hight

I feel your pain. During our heatwaves my beardies cool end gets to 95-100. There's nothing really taht can be done to the tank. Lowering your basking light wattage won't help much. It is a start tho. Best thing for you to do is keep the beardie really hydrated, 2-3 baths a day. Mist him outside...

    Possible to be that scared?

The more I think about it he was probably just excited. He loves that kind of stuff. As I was making this thread, he was still doing the same thing. Just thought it was kind of odd. lol

    Possible to be that scared?

Houdini and I were playing a little bit ago. He jumps up on the glass tracks, and I try to get him then he jumps back in. Well one time he was too close to the glass and couldn't jump back in so he fell. DON'T WORRY! His tanks on a coffee table and has about 6-8 inches of room for him. So...

    Spraying/Misting water on your dragon

I think it's prefectly fine. I have read that also, but don't believe it. Just don't put your dragon back in the tank until the water has dried so he/she doesn't get burnt!

    Live plants in the enclosure

That link is more for safe plants to eat. I would just recommend soem fake plants. If you do use real ones, make sure they can eat the leaf, and stem just in case they do, and also watch the humidity.

    13" from reptisun

This is true for UVB only lights, but definitely not MVB's. 6" away from an MVB and you'll fry your little one. 13" is ok, I think it could even go a little higher.Do some searching on here for MVB distances, and you'll be able to find your answer.

    Live plants in the enclosure

Pay attention to the humidity if you put real plants in there.

Thanks everyone! Houdini likes the compliments. Well, either those or the worms. Either way he's happy right now!
