Baby dubias climbing the walls! D:

They will climb the sides if they are rough, which it looks like yours is. Go buy a new container with smooth sides and they wont be able to. Clear packing tape works well, until you go to clean the container and you need to retape it.

    Tiles

Any slate tile should be more than rough enough. However, check out lizard-landscapes and get some ideas on what they use. I think it's mod-podge but don't quote me.

    How many Dubia to keep

I think you're good to go, 1:3 is ok from what I've been reading and is about what I'm at right now with mine. They are doing well just not producing babies fast enough for my 4mo dragon. I'd have to sort daily if I wanted to feed from my colony right now. I just ordered 3,000 more XXS dubia...

New Beardie mommy and daddy with a lot of questions!

He doesn't look unhealthy from that pic like I would have thought from his previous care. Everyone on here will tell you to ditch the sand asap, including me. I've lost a Mali Uromastyx to impaction and won't use sand ever again. I personally really like the look of tile and how easy it is to...

    Maggots

I more so mean the maggots from normal house flies that make homes in my trash cans. They are super gross, maybe because there are trillions in numbers.

    Maggots

I've been reading some posts where people are feeding maggots to their beardy. GROSS! :puke: I can deal with crickets, roaches and worms - BUT I CANNOT DEAL WITH MAGGOTS. End rant. Oh, and my silk worm order should be arriving today and my roach colony is prospering pretty well. But...

Had to sign in and say this is amazing! How do you keep the sides flush so there are not holes? Did you seal it?

    Crickets getting way to expensive.

Splice the genes from a hydra and a cricket together and constantly cut off the hydrickit's heads until it regrows. Feed cut off head to dragon, problem solved. Or start a colony of something, I like dubia.

    Toothless

~7-8 weeks old I think (unknown age from PetSmart, but I got him the day he came in) - 14g - 6.75" long - Loves dubia, eats like 30-50 a day I'd say (after a week and a half of relocation stress not eating)

    Just ordered a Dubia colony

I meant to take better pics over lunch and respond but I forgot to. Here is my current setup. I choose to have two colonies, one feeder and one breeder. Go to Wal-Mart, buy a couple bins with tops and cut some holes in the top and glues some screen on. I choose my breeder one to be much larger...

Baby growth rates - help me collect data

So I am not certain how old mine is. I picked him up the day Petco got him/her in. 5.5 inches, 7 grams. (Today) Three weeks later 6.5 inches, 11 grams. I'm assuming 7 weeks-ish, from following this post.

    Dubia for 4

I have about 1500 Dubia now, in the last 5 or 6 weeks. I have 500 in one container I call the "Breeder" and 1000 in a smaller container I call the "Feeder". I purchased the 1000 XXS nymphs so I dont disturb the breeder colony. The breeder has about 30F/10M. However once a week I notice a dead...
