Cricket breeding tips?

I may soon be getting a beardie so i need to learn how to breed crickets Could anyone here help

IMO if you are getting ONLY ONE beardie, even a superhungry bottomless pit eating machine of a hatchling, you will never need so many crickets to make it worth the time to have a cricket colony going.

I have 3 beardies ( 2 are 11.5 months old, one 4 years old ) + 2 Bluetongue Skinks (both about 5 years old) and until recently had a water skink ( about 7-8 years old ) , all like crickets, and a cricket colony is not worth the effort for me, I simply buy my crickets weekly (or there abouts) in lots of 800.

If I had a few more pet lizards I might give a colony of crickets a go (well I'd likely need 3 or 4 so I always had the right size crickets on hand).

I think you'll be better off in you case finding good supplier and buying your crickets in sufficient numbers to last about 2 weeks at a time ....

Might I suggest you buy some silkworm eggs (about 500 - 600) and hatch these and raise them as feeders for your beardie (will it be an adult or a hatchling (baby) ? ) In about a month from hatching the worms will be perfect size to use as live feeders for a hatchling and you'll be hard put to find a better staple feeder insect rather than BSF maggots (maybe ??).

buy a bunch of full grown adults, put them in a tote. get a plastic tupperware dish, full it with organic soil (no fertilizer, food, etc). keep the soil damp & temps around 80-85 degrees. they will mate and females will lay eggs in dirt. after a week, remove dish and place in a different tote. put the lid on the dish and poke lots of holes in the lid. check it every 2 days and keep soil damp and temps 80-85. eventually babies will start hatching and u'll have crickets everywhere!

go to youtube and search how breed crickets. there's tons of howto videos that show you how to do it...
